So I ended up randomly making a PILE of new monster sprites for my 8-bit graphics set. Mostly following Nathan Karr's monster design prompts for each day of October (Frankenstein's monster for "corpse," trilobite for "ancient," plesiosaur for "sea monster," harpy for... well, "harpy"... and so on) -- though I skipped a couple for various reasons, and ended up adding a few random ones that don't match any of the prompts here and there.
So now we've got some of the few "standard RPG monsters" that were missing from the original batch and its previous update, like wolves and goblins and a winged-type dragon... as well as an assortment of mythical creatures, and some random oddballs like a trilobite, thorny vine, Frankenstein's monster, and... floating mass of eyes? 😱
I'll be adding them to the wiki soon and to the 8-bit Graphics Set RPG file here at some point, along with a handful of other new sprites (probably walkabouts for at least some of these new additions.)

I had a sprite in Nathan's Quest from 2015 that I figured was good enough to deserve an entire spinoff game. Hopefully if I don't directly reference branded elements by name I can sell the nostalgia without [s]tortious interference[/s] frivolous litigation.
My dream gameplay for this would be to make a sort of screen-scrolling roguelite. Get an algorithm to assemble 16x10 rooms, choosing the color of the walkable tiles on layer 0 and applying the relevant random enemy formation set, placing blocks on layer 1, and scattering NPC instances around.

Remeber: God made you special and he loves you very much. Bye!
I'd like to announce something. Here are my character sprites for free: https://rpg.hamsterrepublic.com/wiki-im ... gsbird.zip
Approximately 270 graphics. NPCs, main characters and enemies. They use the old, colourful master palette. They aren't the most polished ones. I have zero natural talent for drawing (all learned from copying, learning and trying it again), but for some reason, all these graphics are here now. It just happened.
Someone starting with the OHRRPGCE, who finds drawing disgusting because it takes that long, can make a whole game out of my sprites, as there are a lot.

That's a lot of graphics! You should post them on the Free Sprites page as well, so people looking on the resources page can find them https://rpg.hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/Free_Sprites
It always takes me a long time to draw sprites, so I like having lots of diverse placeholder assets, and these look great!

I've been doing a little work on two nice little projects. Here's some more stuff from the one consisting entirely of original art assets instead of borrowing from Fnrrf.

- I'm making the main character a little bit less of a direct self-insert. Changing his name, changing his decoration.

Something for a cutscene.
