I counted 21x21. Then I realised that the image has been stretched, the pixel sizes are uneven. So it's actually 20x20. (I don't know in which circumstances the OHR would stretch pixels like that. gfx_directx can, but it's still 320x200.) An even clearer tell that it's the OHR is that the transparency is dithered and it looks like my unique chequered/error-diffusion hybrid dithering.

Very nice.

@ Spoonweaver: Thanks :)

And yes, it is OHR. The stretching was done out of habit, scaling with nearest neighbor by 5-9% makes it a bit harder for would be rippers to cut up the artwork. Not really necessary in this forum, but I do this almost automatically when exporting pixel art... XD

The game runs in 426x240, so it uses widescreen and is not too blocky.

Font rendering works like doom's, sprite per sprite. I really wished for a batch import feature for sprites :zombie:
But I needed different sized fonts, and made them proportional while at it.

I wish I had thought of that!

Messing around a bit with features a game that doesn't have GBC graphics can do, and also trying to figure out a look for my next project.

Footage from my Unreal Engine project - shelved since I'm on Linux and UE went from "sort of working" to "not working" with the last update. The sprites are hand drawn, the level is flat-shaded low poly. Went for a cartoony look - BTW, the main character is a cat. With a bow and arrow.

Haven't decided whether to redo the project as a platformer or a JRPG, or throw caution to the wind and try porting it to Godot. Or set up a windows PC to use UE again.

Thanks! I thiiiiiiiink I did the inking with black Copic markers for that creature. Then I scanned the drawings, and went over them in GIMP to add color. Took a while, but easier than pixel art. Lately almost everything I draw is inked with a ballpoint pen.

I really miss Unreal. I've been really tempted lately to go back to Windows for it. It's THE best (3D) game engine for a non-coder.
