Yeah I think I'd go crazy if I wasn't always working on something. I'm still planning on adding more stuff to Walthros but wanted a break from that world for a little bit.

For C. Kane 2 I started developing my own hand-coded battle system instead of using the OHR default but I've got to settle down a little, it's an enormous amount of work for what's supposed to be a very casual, breezy project. I'll save all this code for another game.

Instead of the usual side view I'm going Phantasy Star style and also giving the enemies a little more animation.

The enemy animations are a nice touch, and I like the perspective the big hero sprite creates. I'm surprised you started scripting a battle system, but I suppose as Franken shows, there's no limit to how minimal they can be.

My main reason for wanting to try a custom battle system was to expand the range of animation used and to use a higher than default resolution without anything getting weird looking in battle. Even building something basic took a ton of time though, so I'm holding off and not using that for this game.

Working on Jane's alter ego sprite: Using the power of her Dead Skeleton brooch and the wisdom of a talking cat, Jane can transform into the Magical Hero C. Jane, protector of anyone who just wants to relax and sleep.

C. Jane can punch people crazy hard using her Snake Gauntlets and can also put on a decent puppet show with them. Against her cat's advice, Jane is unconcerned with keeping her identity a secret and thinks that instead she can use this opportunity to date someone really hot.

The fact that all the other "humans" have noses makes me suspicious!

Can't believe it took me so long to notice Jane rhymes with Kane.

What kind of animation improvements did you want, any aside from enemy attack animations? I had been meaning to do something on attacker animations soon, and it's always valuable to hear what people actually want.

Did you actually have problems with things disappearing near the screen edge at higher resolution? It seems that it doesn't happen as soon as you go beyond 320x200.
