August

September

...so are these supposed to say "Summer Slap," or is it still "Summer Slam?"

The 2021 contest thread was definitely "Slam," but seeing "Slap" four times in a row makes me wonder if it might be an intentional name-change rather than a typo/autocorrect-goofed-up type situation.

In the spirit of the winner of the Ridiculous Games Contest getting to host the next iteration, maybe in the Summer $WRESTLING_MOVE, it could be made an official rule that the winner gets to change the name of the contest for the next year.

Terrific idea polkakitty! All contests should yield the prize of being renamed by the winner. Think how wacky they could get? It keeps the spirit of James and TMC letting us voice an opinion on the name of the stable builds of the engine too. The RGC could wind up becoming the "Breakfast for Dinner" competition.

Is the theme of the Summer Spam contest going to be Spam?

Anyway Spoonweaver's "2022 Competition Schedule" is unsanctioned, the official list of 2022 contests is on the Contests page. Accept no imitations. Edits welcome.

Well, I made an account on the wiki and tried to add the 2021 Halloween contest to the list, but no matter what I did, the wiki wouldn't actually save my edits. After clicking "save changes" on the edit page, I would be redirected to a URL with "action=submit" in it that showed my edit as having been made, but the edit wouldn't be added to the article's history, and it wouldn't be there if I went back to the "Contests" page from anywhere else and looked at it again.

Also, I think it's good to have a definitive list of contests, but this means the "2022 contest calendar" page on the wiki should probably be deleted, since it's redundant.

Sorry about that. There's a spam filter which eats edits that add/modify URLs until you've been whitelisted. I just whitelisted you. I believe it also pretends the edit worked intentionally to confuse vandals (which seems over to top to me). Thanks also for trying to improve the wiki.

Well, I was joking, the contest calender page is welcome to stay if it's somehow useful (e.g. prospective rather than actual contests).

Thank you, but is it possible that there's still some kind of "this user tried to post spam links" flag or something on my account? (My account on the wiki is just called "Polkakitty", same as on this forum.) I tried to add the Halloween contest to the list again, and I could make edits to the page text, but it seems that trying to add a link to the Slime Salad thread for that contest still triggers the spam filter. The wiki still shows me a version of the page with the change I tried to make, but doesn't add the change to the page history or the "official" version of the page.

Well, maybe there could be a redirect called "current contests" or something, which would redirect to the "2022 contest calendar" page (or similar pages for later years,) like how "current version" redirects to Hróðvitnir. Then you could go to "Contests" to see information about historical contests and games that were made for them, or go to "current contests" to see what contests are coming up and whether you might want to join one of them. And "current contests" could be linked from the "Contests" page, to help people who just type "contests" into the search bar, wanting to see what contests are currently going on instead of historical ones.

Oof, sorry again. It's fixed now. It turns out that changes to the Not evil page (the whitelist) take up to 24 hours to take effect, which I wasn't aware of.

It would be nice if current and upcoming contests were more prominent. I feel like people probably aren't going to check the Contests, or any other wiki page, to see what's happening. (Does anyone actually go to the News page? Probably not because we add to it extremely infrequently.) Actually, I'd like to put a summary of recent news right on the front page of the wiki where people will see it. Could even put links to contests there. I think the News used to be the front page of the old pre-wiki OHRRPGCE website.
As for the Contests page, we could also highlight ongoing and upcoming contests in a different colour. A "Current Contests" page is not a bad idea, since it could list more information about the contests which the Contests page doesn't.

Okay, thanks a lot for helping me with this. I can add links to pages now, and I added a link to the Slime Salad thread for the Haunted Halloween contest on the "Contests" page, and added it to the "Halloween Contests" page, along with links to the entries.

I also added a note to the "Contests" page that points out the "2022 contest calendar" page as a source for information about current contests. Does anyone else want to weigh in with any thoughts about having a "current contests" page that can be linked from any appropriate places on the wiki?

Thanks, hats off for that Hróðvitnisdottir fix!

"2022 contest calendar" could be (eventually) renamed/moved to "Current contests" to become a permanent fixture.

So what's this contest scheduled for December 28th? Does it involve spam too?

Though I dislike being replaced.......
It looks great! Glad to have something so useful in place!
I'll link it into the top comment here.

But should I take this as you are you stepping up to man the contest calendar then? Do people need to message you to get the go ahead for ohr contests?

Oh, but you're in charge of officialising new contests this year, right? I'd rather not have more responsibility heaped upon me, because I'm usually running a half year behind on keeping the list up-to-date, like everything else
