Bughunters League Table

Post by TMC »

As we're getting Fufluns ready for release I've been going back over recent bug reports. I might have been lazy about filing bugs on Sourceforge, but I have been careful in noting the contributions of bughunters privately.

Now I've tallied up and immortalised your contributions as the Bughunters League Table.
You might be surprised to see one super-sleuth is dominating the ranking!

I might create a new table for each engine version in addition to an All-Time table.
If so, you still have a chance to get ahead before Fufluns is released :)

Please speak up if I've lost your bug report!

The encouragement worked; Feenick immediately reported something and took 2nd place and Fenrir gained 11 places :)

Between the etheldreme and fufluns releases, diligent bug hunters reported 225 bugs which were accepted as new and (probably) valid for rankings on the League Table. Wow!

I'll be continuing this going forward, and the wiki article shows the all-time ranking, but I'll also tabulate a ranking for bugs reported during each release cycle.

Here's the Top 25 table for fufluns

Better luck next time, Sword!

Neat. I even remember some of these bug reports.

[Thanks for your work on this over these years, by the way. Engine's come a long way even just on this entry]

Also, I should mention that I have a bunch of crash reports (submitted with the Windows crash reporter tool), but almost noone provides their name or any information when submitting a crash, so many of those reports didn't make it into the table.

I'll also single out Sword for having an uncanny ability to find crash bugs (and being very helpful in investigating them with a debugger).

I could also score our bugfixing ... out of the 225+ reported bugs (I just updated the total), 130 were totally fixed in time for fufluns. Of the 72 that were bugs introduced since etheldreme, 50 were fixed. Nearly all of the remainder are problems with unfinished new features in fufluns (e.g. variable-size sprites, gfx_sdl2) rather than stuff we broke.

Considering how inactive I've been, me finding so many bugs just casually goofing off with things like trying to make a game with a smaller-than-normal screen resolution or the like feels pretty good.

Another season of bughunting wrapped up for the Gorgonzola release (err, a month ago), and the results are finally in! 32 valid bugs were reported during those 4 months -- that is, bugs reported between Fufluns and Gorgonzola.

I didn't forget about this, I just didn't get around to writing code to generate the leaderboard.

The returning champion narrowly stays ahead of Chalkflower/Prifurin who leapt to 2nd place.

"Seasonal" (each-release) leaderboards are now posted at Release Leaderboards. The Fufluns one is slightly different from what I posted before due to bookkeeping, but the rankings didn't change.

As always, all-time leaderboard at Bughunters League Table.
