Behind the cabin door was a tiny antechamber with three more doors. The middle one was obviously the Captain's cabin. It is rather small, but looks very comfortable, and there are books all around, on shelves with leather straps designed to keep the books from toppling off when the ship bucks.

Oxnar takes in Hyne's words, leaning against the captain's bunk, leaving a wet spot on the fine blanket.

He listens with a chagrined expression, and seems to be trying to hold back his coughing to avoid interrupting.

Finally he answers. "I'm sorry I sent you into trouble, Hyne. It was the best advice I had to give you at the time... if I had known the true size of the mess brewing in Srappa, I wouldn't have sent you there, and I might not have even gone back myself."

"I... I don't want to die, Hyne. You've got good reason to be mad at me... but I don't want to be thrown back overboard. I can tell you my secrets if you'll put in a few good words for me... or if that is too much to ask, at least a few words better than 'throw him back'"

Hyne's insight tells him Oxnar is being quite sincere. Especially sincere that he doesn't want to die

Although when he says "...and I might not have even gone back myself." his face betrays that he doesn't actually mean those words, and is really just sorry for sending Hyne there.

Hyne allows Oxnar his time to explain, and uses the time allotted to wane his rage so that he can better ponder what is happening. His breathing still remains pained and heavy, however, and he keeps pacing around the room while Oxnar speaks.

Finally, he looks down at the Dwarf for a moment. Then he kneels down to speak to him softly, asking, "Oxnar.. did you betray your order and tell the Duke or anyone else that I was going to seek help from them?"

"No, I kept your secret! I didn't breathe a word about you. Not to the Duke, not even to my High Priest Marglov."

Hyne isn't fully convinced about the sincerity of the last reassurance given. He asks again, "These are your people we're talking about. Are you being honest with me -- to yourself about what might happen to them?"

Its hard to tell if Oxnar is being honest or not, but it is easy to tell he knows more than he is saying.

"What might happen to them?" Oxnar repeats, seeming to not quite understand. You mean my holy order? What will happen to the Temple of Pelor?

Hyne finds Oxnar's concern revealing.. but Hyne isn't sure the broken man is ready for an explanation on what is going to happen. But he will have to know sooner or later. He wonders if now is the time to say it.

Oxnar's expression grows a little more distressed. He seems to be upset by whatever his imagination is telling him might be happening to his fellow paladins right now.

"I think there will be war in the streets of Srappa before sunrise... and I'm not even sure which side the Temple of Pelor will be fighting on... If you'd asked me yesterday who we were loyal to, I might have said 'The New Queen' or I might have said 'Pelor Alone'... or I might have been flip, and said 'Anybody but the Umbarlees'... but Arkwyn figured out the crown was fake at the funeral, and she thinks we did it." he points to himself as he says this, "But that's just what Marglov told me, and two hours later he orders me to join the Suicide Escort, and that 'It will all work out in the end', and so I went willingly, thinking he had some great plan, some sneak attack, some secret trick to save me, and turn the tide..."

Oxnar's voice quavers with these last few lines, then his face brightens, and he looks Hyne right in the eyes, and the next words are the most heartbreakingly sincere things you've ever heard come out of his mouth.

"You! It was you, wasn't it! You on this ship pulling me out of the damn sea, that was his plan all along!"

Hyne's eyes flicker with uncertainty. It is apparent to him that Oxnar isn't really to know what he thinks will happen especially considering even the simple act of boarding The Flying Eye Goddess only hours earlier would have completely altered the man's reality. As of right now the Temple of Pelor or their ship are likely being raided and the occupants questioned as of Hyne's whereabouts; The Yandorin may have a head start yet.

He moves back in the room to pull a chair to the bed. He sits and retrieves a ration to share the contents of the dried food with Oxnar. Omitting much of the context of the situation he explains, "You're stuck with me now. If we're attacked, they'll be your enemies too." He says this glancing to the side as if looking out already. He reaches to pull up his eye patch and wraps it back around his eye. Getting back his faked voice, he re-introduces himself as someone new, "And my name is Thulsa Stormeel. I'll be heading east, as far away from Srappa or Jenna as possible."

Oxnar takes the bit of ration in his hand, but he doesn't eat it, he just holds it.

In spite of his earlier hope, he now seems doubtful.

"All right... Thulsa Stormeel..." he seems to be waiting expectantly in the hopes that Hyne might speak some Pelorian codeword that will prove Marglov secretly sent Hyne to save Oxnar.

Disappointment creeps the rest of the way across his face, and his shoulders slump.

"I... I think I need to pray for a while." he says dejectedly.

The ship creaks and leans slightly as it tacks through the storm winds.

And then suddenly remembering his earlier concern, Oxnar asks. "At least I won't be thrown overboard then?"

Hyne shakes his head, "No. I don't think you have to worry about that." He considers for a moment, "But these people- they like folks that use magic. Are you in a good enough condition to channel Pelor's magic, still?"

"What ship is this, anyway?" asks Oxnar.

He settles down on the floor and takes up a prayer position. "And I guess I'll know by tomorrow how Pelor and I feel about one another."

Hyne wonders why he can't use magic now.. did Oxnar expend his spells and healing before his trip, somehow? While thinking upon that, he answers, "We're aboard the little sister to The Flying Eye Goddess, the Yandorin."

He stands up. "I should get back to work by now."

Hyne plans on finding his room and dropping off his metallic sword and his non-critical supplies, though keeping the satchel with the crown with him to protect it.
