"What? Oh dear..." thinks Flumphy, drifting along after Hyne, trying to catch up "How do you know? I heard that Duke Borgan defeated the Jenn invaders last night at Bovo!"
There is still no sign of Scorpion LeBleu anywhere around, and nobody other than Flumphy is paying any attention to Hyne at the moment.

Hyne tries to make up a plausible scenario, "Our spies among the Jenn camps along the border know about how they've been attacking in waves and at different points. Everybody is just using the Duke's victory of fighting off one unit as a tale to keep the people happy and focused on the funeral."

Flumphy stops and hovers in place for an instant, then he flings up a few tentacles and waves them about in dismay
"Your Spies? Oh dear! I thought you were Borgan's man... who are you? Who are you working for!? Is it ... no, no, Cray! He's working for Cray!" the Flumph thinks in a panicked tone.
He begins hovering towards Hyne again, stops, dithers, starts, stops.
"Oh my, oh my, oh dear oh dear!"

Hyne takes advantage of Fluffy's staggered movement to get himself out of there.

It worries him a bit that he's now associated with someone he's never heard of before, but he can't stand there and interrogate the creature right now.

Just use his passive perception to look out for anything for now

Hyne gets a substantial lead before Flumphy even seems to notice that Hyne is running away.DM wrote:Which way did Hyne go? Down the alley? Down the street?
The Flumph gives chase, but although his top hover speed is faster than a walk, it is still slower than Hyne can run
"Wait! Oh dear!" the Flumph thinks as it chases "Come back! I'm not giving up without the crown! We'll chase you to..."
when Hyne gets about 60 feet away from the creature, the telepathy that it is sending at him abruptly ceases.

For the next few hours, Hyne is able to keep moving and avoid notice.
He catches no further glimpses of either LeBleu or Flumphy
The storm clouds over the sea grow darker, and pile up, looming over shore. It isn't raining yet, but it looks likely to do so sometime in the night.
Out among the docks, sailors are climbing the rigging, rolling up and stowing away large sails, battening down the hatches.
One small ship in front of the Temple of Pelor has sails fully ready, and there is some kind of bonfire being started on its deck.
The festivities of the Queen's Coronation continue. Hyne can occasionally hear bits of music, and the sounds of crowds cheering from that direction. The people seem determined to get as much partying done as possible before the storm cuts it short.
Occasionally Hyne overhears people on the street talking about how beautiful and sad the new Queen looks, about how good the dancing is, about how nice it is to be allowed to see the inside of the castle, and various gossip about nobles, captains, priests and other notables who were spotted there.
About an hour before sunset, with the lowering sun making wild red and purples in the storm-clouds, a small procession comes into the city. It is mostly horsemen, with a few wagons. From a safe distance, Hyne can recognize a few of the soldiers he saw on the road with the duke. The solider in the lead is carrying Duke Borgan's shiny ceremonial helmet under his arm. It looks badly damaged.

Hyne is finally able to relax and rest his feet after being on the run for so long. During his time in the city, he occasionally glances to the sky as it dulls, threatening rain.. or possible gryphons flying in.
Soon Hyne spots the acting Duke, Borgain's helmet, daring to spark a celebration of himself at the moment of the King's funeral. Whether or not this means the Duke is dead is uncertain, but it does mean that the Jenns got to him, and they didn't get what they wanted from him.
He decides it is getting late and he needs to get to the captain. Surely the captain will agree to find shelter, making the timing convenient.

The sky continues to redden and darken as the sun sets and the storm approaches.
Hyne heads back to the docks to meet Captain Wizard Crawford at his ships.
The first hints of rain begin. Just a tiny sprinkle now, but surely a harbinger of what is to come.
The docks are more crowded now. Many captains and mates seem to have left the Queen's coronation party to rush back and help direct securing their ships against the storm.
Very few sails are visible now, other than those lashed tightly up into rolls.
One notable exception is the ship Hyne spotted earlier with the bonfire on its deck. The bonfire is now noticeable bigger. It is in the aft of the ship, as far away from the sails as possible, but it blazes bright.
A crowd of people is gathered around it, most of them seem to be well-dressed, both the garb of captains and nobles, and a few priests-robes.
The bonfire ship is just separating from the dock, preparing to go out to sea.
Two old crones are manning the ropes. The four oars are being manned by a crew of ugly old grizzled sailors, all of them look much too old to be rowing a small ship out to see in a storm-- except for one-- Hyne recognizes the face of Oxnar the Paladin of Pelor, pulling at one of the oars, a grim expression on his face. He is not wearing his paladin armor, but is still easy to recognize, looking very out-of-place among the elderly sailors.
On the deck of the bonfire ship, a few paces away from the flames, is a wooden pyre with the hefty corpse of King Ark on top of it. The light of the flames illuminates his white funerary robes, and gleams of his bald crownless head.

It's as though this damned funeral was following Hyne around everywhere he went when it's the one place he has to avoid being seen around. He mutters a curse that he can't be anywhere in the city without anyone funeral somehow having a good view of where he is.
He heads into an alternative route to get to the ship he wants unseen.

Hyne moves silently past the funeral crowd, and avoids drawing any attention.
The bonfire-ship moves out away from the docks, towards the gap in the breakwater between the two lighthouses.
One person breaks away from the crowd and begins moving rapidly in the same direction as Hyne is going. He isn't running, but he is moving as fast as a person can go and still call it a walk.
He is a short man with a long white beard. He is wearing big boots, and a big hat. It looks like the hats that pirate captains usually wear, except that the middle comes to a tall point, and it has a silver stars-and-moons all over it.
A few people from the funeral crowd glance briefly in that direction, but too late to notice what has happened

Not seeing Hyne at all, the man crashes directly into him, and tumbles off the edge of the dock into the cold water with a loud splash.Perception contest against Hyne's stealth roll wrote:1d20+? = 1 = CRITICAL FAIL

Hyne looks between his back and forward path. He first checks to make sure he still has the crown. If he does, he knows he can't just let the guy drown. He unravels his rope and looks for something quick to tie it to... He has an idea!
He ties the rope around where the handle meets the head of the handaxe he bought in the past week. He then tosses the axe with the rope into the water and calls out, "Here! Grab a hold of it."
