The spells is indeed transferred to the rat and then transferred to a snake upon the rat's end. With a bit of luck, Karamon was able to effect the larger snake in the main tunnel that Catt had described as big enough to crawl through. The snake was currently busy eating the rat.
Renold had never seen anything like the devil face. He also inspected the misty archway. "What could this all be?" he asked to himself. Johnny had back away from the pit and was closer to the devil face and archway now. He looked at the area with both wonder and horror.
Kamaron, currently rather blind, sits himself down on the floor still viewing the world through the snake's eyes. He waits for it to move around so he can better see the area, the magic has hours left so he's not too concerned about it running out.

Horace urges the hosts of the quest not to get too close to obviously evil figures looming about the room, "These are the crossroads spoken of in the riddle."
He casts Detect Magic to feel how powerful the magic about them are when faced with the choices.

"Watch out! The mask reeks strongly of magic- the kind that may try to harm us. The arch is conjuring illusions as well. The traps are growing more dangerous as we head deeper into the dungeon."

Kamaron hears Horace and snaps out of his trance for a moment.
"As we delve deeper? Bah, we're barely in the mouth of this blasted thing. If the traps are this deadly hear, I'd hate to see how bad they get further on in. I agree with you though, we'd best be careful here."
Kamaron stands, then looks to the entrance outside.
"There were trees out there, yes? What if we were to head out, carve ourselves a bunch of ridiculously long sticks, and then bring them with us. That way, any poking and prodding that we'll need to do can be done from several feet away, the farther the better. Might see if we can grab a few heavy rocks as well, to toss down and roll across hallways ahead of us to trigger any traps. I know I would be a whole lot more comfortable if a stone sacrifices its life instead of one of us."

"I'll go with you to help. It looks like the blasted snake is going to be a while with that rat. I'll check in with it every few minutes to see where it's going, but for now I can help with the trees and sticks."
"I ponder the situation a moment. Sticks to poke and prod things are well and good, but it might also be a good idea to be able to hit things from afar when things are looking extra dangerous. I decide to tell this to my companion."
"Brother, a thought just wiggled its way into my mind. Sticks to poke and prod things are well and good, but it might also be a good idea to be able to hit things from afar when things are looking extra dangerous. While we're at it, we might as well fashion a few crude spears or javelins that we can throw at traps from afar. I know I don't want to touch that green face thing, even with a long stick. We might be able to trigger whatever trap is on it if we throw a javelin or something at it. Or, barring that, we'll at least be able to see what might happen."

Catt's reflexes kick in as the 10ft pole is instantly sucked into the mouth. She feels herself being pulled in too but lets go before the affect reaches her. The pole is gone. A few seconds later, the party hears a bang echo through the tomb. None of them can tell which direction it came from.

"That... is actually an excellent idea. As it stands though, we might not be able to retrieve the snake that's affected by the spell. We can, however, spend the day preparing and creating whatever tools we might need to safely poke around things. In the morning tomorrow, we can attempt to send another rat or snake or whatever into that portal to see where it leads. Nowhere pleasant, I'm guessing."

Johnny looked at Catt with a puzzled look on his face. Surely it had been less than an hour since they had woken up. Still, he didn't want to make waves. Johnny looked around outside for a while, trying to hide the fact that he knew quite well where the sun was.
"Seems to be quite early still," Johnny said as he carefully came back into the hallway to join the others.
Luckily Catt was able to react before something disastrous would happen, he isn't sure he would have been able to pull her away should she not had let go quickly enough.
With a breath, he says, "If there is any place I would prefer to send a rat, it is where illusions exist, so that we can figure out how the dungeon plans to fool us."
