The Realms of Horror (Ch. 1)

[Bob the Hamster]

Catt puts Kamaron's stuff in her pack, spending enough time to figure out how to unfold and re-fold the 10 foot pole.

Catt asks Slickens; "Where? Show me the trap, and I'll see if I can figure out how to disarm it."

She takes Kamaron's magnifying glass back out of her pack, eager to use it for examining the trap.

[Spoonweaver]

The main hallway likely has more pitfalls. Finding them all would likely take a several minutes of searching.
The short hallway with the knobless door showed only one sign of a trap, the runes on the wall.

[Gizmog]

Slickens points to the floors and the walls. That's what Blind Brother Martin would've done. Then again, he was blind. Slickens starts using his eyes to check for more specific traps, particularly on the floor. Nobody wants to fall into a pit.

[Bob the Hamster]

"Pssh more pitfalls?" Catt comments when she realizes what Slickens was talking about. "I'll deal with those later"

She goes back into the room with the knobless door.

"Am I going to trigger this thing If I try to read the runes with a magnifying glass?" she asks, as she tries to read the runes with a magnifying glass.

[Spoonweaver]

Zot!
As Catt approaches the rune, a magical missile shoots out of it and smacks her right in the arm.

Catt takes 2 points of damage.

[BMR]

Kamaron sees Catt injured and calls out, "Be careful. Here, let me look at that."

He places his gauntleted hand over Catt's wound, channeling healing energy through it to slowly ease Catt's wounds. When that's done, he says:

"Now then, let's have a look at this magical trap."

Kamaron holds his holy symbol forward, focusing divine energy through it. He mutters a short prayer, then releases the energy towards the runes in a wave of bright light.


Spell Used: Dispel Magic

Item Used: Kamaron's gauntlets, heals 1 hp per round, unlimited uses.

Zot!
A magical missile strikes Karamon. His dispel spell seems ineffective.

Karamon takes 4 dmg

Catt looks to see if the runes look any different now that they have disgorged two magic missles. Are they any smaller? Have the glyphs changed?

"That healing glove look useful!" she says to Kamaron.

She pokes a rune experimentally with her finger, bracing herself for the magic missile she expects is coming, and trying to spot exactly where it emerges from... the door? one of the runes? thin air?

(she is trying to understand how the trap works)

[Newbie Newtype]

Horace casts detect magic to try and find the origin of the magic missile devices, "Like pins and needles! It's almost as if it's blasting everyone that moves."

[Spoonweaver]

The runes look the same and are indeed detected as magical. The magic missiles seemed to come straight from the runes. Poking the runes did not activate them. For the moment no other missiles fired.

[Newbie Newtype]

"I can feel the magical power. The runes themselves are endowed with it. Perhaps this is a way of forbidding us from reading the texts."

[Bob the Hamster]

Emboldened that she did not get zapped by poking the rune with her finger, Catt takes a piece of chalk out of her haversack, and scribble-scrabbles all over one of the runes, trying to obscure it.

[Spoonweaver]

Zot!
Catt is hit by a magic missile. The chalk seems to have no affect.

Catt takes 5 dmg

[Bob the Hamster]

"Glove!" says Catt to Kamaron as she puts away the chalk and dusts off her hands.

Slickens shakes his head watching the repeated, deliberate triggering of the trap. "I think I see a beehive over there, if anyone wants to put their face into it." What're they trying to prove?!
