What is it with these people and the instant aggression? Surely the party isn't ill-mannered enough to deserve these constant attacks. No use thinking about it now... and those vermin cannot be allowed near our precious rations. "To the door! A fighting withdrawal! I *KNEW* we had no business here!" Galse has no intention of crossing the threshold into the cathedral unless that big guy is close enough to get a sap to the skull. We've got the numbers on our side, and with some calm manuevering we can get the terrain our side as well. "No use fighting him on his home field! And look out for those statues!"

"Galse is right, fighting retreat, lads! Back to the statue room and the entrance near the loft, we can fight better there!"

Kalar focuses his will and mentally commands both zombies to advance and screen the party, preventing anything from coming their way. While they do that, Kalar will head back to regroup with Galse.

Next Round:

Kalar will continue to withdraw towards Galse while avoiding the statues (move action). If nothing hostile appears in his line of sight, he will continue to move back to Galse (second move action) otherwise, he will either rebuke the hostile zombies that appear or command his zombies to attack Simon, whichever one comes out the door (standard action).

Next-Next Round:

If Kalar engaged hostiles in the previous round, he will step back (5-foot step). He will take caltrops from his pouch (move action) and toss them in front of himself (free action). He will then mentally command his zombies to try to grapple Simon (if he appeared) and bear him to the ground or tackle individual zombies (if they appeared) and bear them to the ground.

If he did not engage any hostiles in the previous round, he will now run up the walls to the loft while drawing a javelin (move action) and then call out to everyone to make their way out the door while he covers them from above. He will then ready his javelin to (ready standard action) throw at the first hostile that comes into range.

He puts the paper case with the scroll away and takes his pen, he hears the suggestion to retreat and decides to do so.

Thistlewhistle readies himself for battle and tactically moves to regroup with Galse and Kalar.
Kalar sends his zombie minions at the insect swarm and moves to ready himself to run up to the loft in order to better control the battlefield. His minions are both engulfed by the swarm.
Galse checks the forest for danger while at the same time keeping an eye on things in the chapel. The large frog hops closer to Galse while at the same time not hoping directly towards Galse.
Lynda lunges forward at Simon. She grapples him to the ground. Then she calls forth her ghostly touch, but it doesn't happen. She's deeply troubled by the loss of her new power.
Simon struggles to get free of Lynda's grapple. His hands glow with a dark power and he thrusts it at Lynda. But nothing happens. Simon looks furious.
Silas watches the grapple, trying to think of the best course of action. Charles stands beside Silas, doing the same. "Stop this! What has gotten into you Simon?"

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!" She screams at Simon.

Holding Simon down on the ground, she takes out her dagger and tries to drive it through his throat.

"Charles, I suggest you help us subdue your brother before she kills him outright."

Silas smashes Simon with his stone arm, hoping to render him unconscious. After completing the attach he will try to get back being Lynda again.

Silas walks up and punches Simon in the face while Simon and Lynda grapple on the ground. Lynda grabs for her dagger allowing Simon to escape her grasp. He backs up a bit and summons a large globe of darkness around himself.
Madelina springs from the bed and tackles Charles. Free of her bonds, she begins attack Charles once more.

Meanwhile Kalar, sprints up the walk and positions himself on the loft with a readied javelin. Thistlewhistle joins Galse and the frog in the forest. The zombie minions begin to smash the insect swarm, seeming unaffected the beetles attacks. And the non-minion zombies continue to follow Thistlewhistle out the door.

Kalar notices the three zombies heading for Galse and Thistlewhistle. He's reluctant to divide his attention, but right now they're the most immediately dangerous of the various threats in the area, so he decides to revise his tactics.

He holds out his holy symbol and channels divine energy through it to rebuke the three zombies. He doubts he'll be able to bring any more under his control, seeing as how he feels he's almost at his mental limit just commanding the two already in his power.

Next Round

If all of the three hostile zombies are successfully rebuked, he will ignore them and leave them to Thistlewhistle and Galse. He will instead mentally order (standard action) one of his zombies to head towards Lynda and Silas to provide cover for them while they make their way back to the rest of the party.

If two of the three hostile zombies are successfully rebuked, Kalar will move himself into position (first move action) and then jump down onto the zombie that's unaffected (second move action). He will try to angle it so that he hits the zombie with his tower shield and that the soft, squishy landing will negate some of the falling damage (whether lethal or non-lethal).

If none of the three hostile zombies are successfully rebuked, Kalar will get a flask of oil from his pack (move action) and then chuck it at the middle zombie (standard action). He will then call out to the others that the zombies can be ignited with fire.

Next-next Round

If Kalar is still in the loft, and the zombies have been rebuked, he will stay there to provide covering javelin fire against any hostiles coming towards Galse and Thistlewhistle.

If Kalar is still in the loft and the zombies have not been rebuked, he will throw a javelin at the closest one. He knows it won't hurt the zombie, but it will provide a way for the others to grab hold of it and maneuver it around while staying out of its reach.

If Kalar is no longer in the loft, he will <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/action ... >carefully engage combat</a> with the closest hostile that is not a swarm (he will leave that to his minion/s). If the closest hostile is not undead and not a swarm, instead of attacking with his war pick, he will spontaneously cast inflict light wounds on it. Otherwise, he will use a normal attack.

Note

Of course, if he is in danger of being surrounded, or if he's been injured, he will withdraw to where Thistlewhistle and Galse are. He will move back while <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/action ... fending</a> the entire time.

"Damn it all!" Lynda shouts. "Charles, what the hell is going on with your family?!"

Not wanting to approach Simon's twisted ball of shadow, she instead opts for rushing towards Madeline and proceeding to punch her into submission.

Kalar lowers his Javelin and decides to instead raise his holy symbol. IT shines with the power of his god. The three zombies chasing Thistlewhistle stop in the tracks and gaze up in awe at Kalar.
Kalar's zombie minions, smashed at the insect swarm, reducing it's density with each attack.
Just then, a large python slithered forth from the darkness and grappled itself around Silas!
Silas grappled with the snake, fighting back as he fell to the ground.
Lynda went to help Charles, punching Madeline in an attempt to get her off of him. She snarled at Lynda and began to choke Charles. Charles struggled to free himself.
Thistlewhistle, Galse and the frog looked on. The zombies they were preparing for have stopped in there tracks, likely due to Kalar. The insect swarm was almost defeated by the zombie minions and Silas and Lynda seemed to have their hands full. They stood their, battle ready, deciding their best course of action.

Zombie Minions deal 6 and 5 dmg.
Silas deals 3 dmg.
Lynda deals 1 dmg.

Saying various profanities in a variety of languages, Lynda takes her dagger and aims to drive it through Madeline's skull.

"Lynda, you fool! You are immune to magic!" Silas screams. He casts sleep on the snake, in the hopes that will free him up to strike Simon again.

The snake wrapped around his body isn't what scares him, it is the fact that Simon might cast finger of death, or something worse, and Lynda isn't nearby to nullify it
