So did this ever end up happening? I just randomly came across this haha. And is that my pig warrior from Gunpigs? Maybe it's a character from some other OHR game I'm unaware of but either way it's awesome!Froginator wrote:The Newcomers are here!

Yes, he said he's from Gun-pigs.
I'd forgotten all about this; it looked cool but after 2 years without Froginator posting on this forum, I have to say the chances aren't good...
But hey, I used to think that anything that hasn't been touched in a couple years is long dead, but now I've got heaps of projects large and small that I haven't touched in years which I would still like to get back to.

Yeah I get that. I personally need people to help push me on projects too. I have no problem getting things published if I'm collaborating but working alone on a big project is dissuading at times and there's not much push to deliver on things so I get it.TMC wrote:Yes, he said he's from Gun-pigs.

Funny to see this Pig character get reinterpreted by another artist though haha.

Yeah! Although Gun Pigs was sort of a joke project for a contest. I just took a few random mechanics I was playing around with and merged them into a quick game. I just wanted to win the pizza haha. You're right though, other games deserve some references to their character creations.guo wrote:More than anything, this made me think we need a new OHR House with the current active devs' characters.

Yeah. Not sure if it’s possible to add more emojis (or larger emojis) but it could be interesting if these characters could be used by any user as an emoji, kind of a constant reminder of past games? Maybe this doesn’t stick with the consistency of the forum but could be good. Also would take some time and effort for someone to draw them all up in useful poses and emotions that people would regularly use.TMC wrote:Yes, or some other way to give compelling characters (and their games) some attention. I think a lot of people (absolutely including myself) just don't play many OHR games nowadays unless they're involved in their development or specifically hired to test. Years ago we had that OHR Bookclub thread where people all played and discussed the same game and that was a very cool idea but interest dwindled.TMC wrote:Yes, or some other way to give compelling characters (and their games) some attention. Err, yes, being honest, that's why I don't know recent OHR games that well either. I might still spend more time playing OHR games than non-OHR games, though... probably played zero of the last 40 games I've "purchased" on Steam, GoG or Humble Bundle (is it a purchase if it's practically free?) and haven't played any massively multiplayer online timesinks like Minecraft in a couple years.
It's too bad the Bookclub petered off; wonder whether it's still feasible. Hypocritical of me to complain though, I don't think I took part in any except SoJ.

Haha. Do I count as a new member? I've been here since about 2005/2006 but was too young at the time to understand coding so I was just playing games others were making and constructing unpublished RPGs for my own enjoyment and learning purposes until making a comeback and discovering the Slime Salad community.Spoonweaver wrote:The new people should start a new people's OHR house and OHR review club.
They're really dropping the ball...
Maybe someone should identify who all the new people are so we can call them out for not stepping up.

Well you make a decent point. What defines "new".
It's hard to know exactly when to draw a line defining old people from new people.
The last OHR house was in 2008.
The first HOTohr was in 2010.
I think that could be the vague line.
As far as lurker vs participate. I think lurking shouldnt really count. You have to have at least posted on the forums.
