It's like Christmas in March! Or maybe it's like Gomie's Christmas Surprise is March's game of the month. Those two things are basically the same, right? It's on the front page, no matter how you look at it.

My damn Poker game has been up there for months now and only has 75 downloads and two votes. Is Game of the Month even worth the effort?

In the sense of getting more downloads? No, probably not. Game of the Month is more of a recognition thing, if anything.
