I like your logo! :)

@RMSephy:
Can you write me on skype?
What is your nickname again?

It's a funny coincidence, that we are a team again. :)
I'll have lots of free time (= real holidays) after the 18th.

Team Gizmoka (Or is it team Gomo Momo? Who can tell!) wants to know...

if you were a hungry dragon boy,

where would you go?

That's right! Work is already well underway. Though some questioned whether or not a team with such a lopsided power dynamic could pull together, let alone succeed, Team Gomo Momo has proven to be the early favorite AND continues to plow forward.

But let us remind you, our win could be your win too. That's right, Team Gomo Momo's got room fo' mo'! If you can accept my unerring authority in matters relating to random collaboration, and fulfill all of my requests without complaint, question or hesitation you are more than welcome to lay aside whatever petty allegiances you might have and join Team Gomo Momo. I don't care if you're on one of our so-called competitors teams. I don't care if Spoonweaver told you you couldn't enter the contest. I don't care if Spoonweaver says we aren't allowed to pick up vagabonds, so long as you can obey rules #1 and rule #2 you are welcome on Team Gomo Momo.

We're leading the way to success. Don't you want to join us?

Day one was productively spent in a mudslinging war against Giz in IRC. I was surprised when he finally admitted he was actually in contact in Momoka and not just ploughing on ahead, and even more so to see he's remaking PSTUTOR.RPG.

Well, Master K and I also sorted out the basics of the game design, and got cracking on the graphics and visual design. It's too bad that he went to bed after I really started coming up with a lot of detailed ideas for the mechanics. I'll see whether they stick in the morning.

I've learnt from past mistakes, and will not be making a tech demo this time. This is the real deal!

Day 1 of Ichy and Sdratchy:

Partner hasn't shown up yet. Not too worried yet since Spoon started the contest a day early. Unlike the more woman-like Giz I am content to wait for him instead of run about in a panic of making art.

Biggest worry here is that we both have a weakness at drawing walkabouts apparently. But there's plenty of ways to avoid that if we really have to.

He started a day early?! Geez, there was no need for me to rush then.
Actually it looks like two weeks will be far more than needed. Maybe we'll actually aim to finish early. Even finishing would be rather odd.

That wasn't really all of day one. The rest of day one was spent on further boasting and dissing in IRC, mucking around with graphics, and reimplementing half of the C standard library.

Day 2 of Ichy and Sdratchy:

[s]Partner still hasn't shown up. I had hoped he had learned from last year to actually be around at the start of the contest, but apparently not. Still plenty of time left to do something when he finally does show up. Sent him a PM in case he forgot to check the thread or something.[/s]

Update: Looked up last year's thread and found his skype contact. He's online! We're talking! Lordy lordy!

Update 2: And the first meeting is over! We have a pretty firm idea of what the game is about, who's doing what, and when we're around. So I'm feeling pretty good about this whole thing now. The game itself scales pretty well so we can probably adapt without much trouble if the need arises.

Day 2 of Team Gomo...Gomo:

Sent a PM to Momoka, layin' down the law. Don't really know what to expect. Yet, without having to waste time on discussion the project has moved forward by leaps and bounds.

What would a hungry dragon boy like to eat?

A delicious chocolate cupcake?

A jar of perfectly good honey?

A hot dog that fell on the floor?

Perhaps a pistachio flavored ice cream cone?

NO!!! Those are PEOPLE FOOD!

The dragon boy hungers for DRAGON FOOD!

Day two: I didn't work on the game directly today. Instead I finished a couple script commands I wanted, which will make things easier. I got quite side tracked improving documentation. Master K on the other hand drew lots of textures, sprites, and other graphics. We also had plenty of fruitful discussion on the HUD and so forth. I've got to scale back the amount of time I spend on this per day though.

Day 2

Team Pheomr is doing well thus far. Graphics have been drawn, sprites have been made, tilesets have been pixel-ed.

The random generator for maps is chugging along nicely. Speed is a bit of an issue, but it'll probably be ironed out soon enough.

No screenshots just yet though.

Day 3 of Ichy and Sdratchy:

Pretty much pounded out a design doc for...let's say...half of the game? Will do the other half tomorrow. As usual with this contest, I'm realizing I got myself into more work than I should have taken on. I started the day off super excited about the idea and ended the day with dread of the work ahead. Meanwhile Ichiro is pounding out the story. Haven't seen it yet, but we did sort through some gameplay details together today.

Day 3 of Team Momo No Show:

First day I slacked a little bit. Had a busy day outside of game-making and then when I got back to game making I made some critical mistakes and spent most of the day slapping myself for them rather than working.

(For the record, don't ever fall in love with placeholder graphics and don't ever get in an argument about how RPGs are the hardest kind of games to program and get delusions that you'll prove the other guy wrong. Slap yourself!)

Starting to understand what I want from this game, but getting there is going to be hard, especially alone and especially since if Momoka shows up he's probably not gonna want to touch this thing with a ten foot pole. Plus with the weekend over, I gotta remember not to neglect my Monday-Friday gig.

Long story short: Threw away my placeholders. Dispelled my illusions. Gotta divide my attention till Saturday. Feeling more confident about the project and my artistic ability, but gotta trust my own art instincts again and quit comparing myself to others.

Estimated chance of success at this point: 65%.
