[08:46] <bmr> Hey Spoon, the deadline is March 1 right? Does that mean before March 1? Or before March 1 is over?
[08:49] <Seffylocks> It's that time again. Time to nitpick over deadlines xD
[08:53] <bmr> Heh
As things come to a close and people try to squeeze those last seconds out of their game development time you may wonder when the exact deadline to submit your game is. In the past I've tried to leave this a bit vague. This is due to people living in different time zones and most of all, people needing a few more hours to polish up their games.
To put it plainly, games are expected to be uploaded before march 2nd. And by March 2nd, I mean the very last second of March 2nd in the very latest timezone, which I think is Hawaii.
Any game submitted after that will receive a point penalty for each day it is late, up to a few days before voting closes at which point it will no longer be consider an entry for the contest.

Day 14 of Ichy and Sdratchy:
Today Ichiro turned in his work on battles. I'm going to cut to the chase: he did 6 basic attacks and bound them to 4 enemies and only filled out stats for one of the enemies. No items, no equipment, no hero stats, no hero attacks, no testing on any of it. I'll be blunt. He turned in about an hour worth of work after...5 or 7 days? He was reasonably communicative but uh when he said only monsters and attacks would be done I sort of at least expected some attacks for the heroes?
So this threw me into a crisis. My first thought was to blame myself. For not getting the ball running sooner, I'm sure Ichiro doesn't have as much time as I do. For not being extremely specific about my wants. For not demanding more details about what he did at the end of the day. I could come up with ways I screwed up all day long.
But at the end of the day I treated Ichiro the same as the dozens of other people I've made games with and all of them managed just fine. Blame incompatible relations, blame Ichiro running into scheduling problems (he had a blackout one day?), blame bad management from myself, blame Ichiro over-commiting... whatever the reason it doesn't really matter.
After tentatively considering withdrawing from the contest on the basis that this is barely resembling collaboration, I decided to continue to push on. Ichiro has moved on to do what graphics he can. Today I built the town, formulated stats, produced a stat growth chart, came up with character classes, built the class selection menu. Tomorrow it's all about filling in a bunch of equipment, item, and class data. From there I start to properly flesh out the dungeon one section at a time and release however many I manage to get done. It probably ain't gonna be pretty, but it might end up being one of the longer games of the contest.
Boy that was an exhausting day. I sure am looking forward to <s>going to bed immediately and catching up on sleep</s> working nonstop until the deadline.

Guess I'm aiming for March 10th then. (More seriously, I'm going to try hard to come in considerably before March 2nd AoE (the timezone you mentioned is called Anywhere on Earth). And I think I'll go to bed afterall)
Ichiro has been working on the art of the cards. He doesn't know if he'll have time for heroes/story stuff or not, but eh palette swaps are good enough I'm sure. I finished up implementing equipment, items, and heroes today. So all that's left is finishing up dungeon layouts and implementing/designing enemies. Not too bad. Will probably send off however much I get done tomorrow to Ichiro to test out.
Spent a lot of today chasing bugs in the combat code, and later, mucking around with tilesets, as we only had templates for the walls. Meanwhile Mas. K leapt into action, drawing graphics and writing a bunch of enemy definitions; I actually ran out of stuff to get him to do. I'll try to keep him busier tomorrow; I'm sure I made an error there. Unfortunately converting all his dungeon, enemy, and weapon descriptions into scripts/data files was very time consuming and was probably the main thing I accomplished today. We still need lots of item data, which I'll ask him to enter directly into the scripts.
Didn't finish the map generation today as I'd expected. The game most certainly will not be done tomorrow, but I hope that it will be getting really close. The counter hardly moved today because most of the stuff I did was not on the feature list!
Features done: 30.5/62 Bonus features done: 2.5/18
Ichiro did a whole bunch of card art today. I completed the game today, you can play it from start to end now. Ichiro went missing by the time I wrapped it up so I sent it off to Giz for testing. No huge issues, but there's still a bunch of polish I need to do. None of the polish is too major, can easily fit the big problems in tomorrow. Biggest problem is that any filler art I do is going to have a hard time fitting in with Ichiro's existing work, so we're probably going to end up with palette swap heroes.
Didn't even consult the priorities list today; just did whatever I felt like. Wrote two map generators and added a bunch of stuff that was supposedly cut. And yet some core stuff like random generation of items and enemies is still not done. K drew a bunch of graphics and defined a long list of items.
Lots of time spent debugging. There's just one bug that has me concerned, but I'm more worried that I've been adding polish instead of core mechanics. Will try in release within 18 hours or so but may miss the deadline slightly.
I played Spy Game for about 45 minutes today. The premise is cool and I hope to enjoy it. However, I don't feel like I made any progress.
I disguised myself as everyone in town and tried to talking to everyone else to no result. I imitated and janitor and wandered around the lab, but there isn't anything really there. Every time I try to check out the apartments, I get busted for picking the locks.
