OHRRPGCE Top 15 - 2013

Previous Top 30 polls can be found here and here.

We've had several Top 30 polls over the years, but I've decided to cut it down to 15 for several reasons. It appears that there tended to be a lack of contributors over the past few years and I think Top 15 may be a little more feasible for most people. Also, with fewer games being released these days I think a Top 15 is more ideal than Top 30.

Without further adieu, here is how it will work:

OHRRPGCE Top 15

- Vote for up to 15 of your favorite OHRRPGCE RELEASES. You can vote on ANY released OHRRPGCE game, regardless of how old or new it is. Demos and completed games are fine, but we're not going to do unreleased games (anyone remember Rinku's games showing up in Top 30s without even being released?) You don't have to vote for 15 games, as one vote would be better than none at all.

- List them in order, as your top pick will receive the most points while the lowest will receive minimal points.

- You may NOT vote for your own game.

- If possible, please include a short reason that you chose each game in your list.

- You can post your votes in this thread, email me at mballsubATgmailDOTcom, or via PM.

- The deadline for voting is August 31, 2013. I will then tally the votes and posts the results on The Hamster Wheel, Slime Salad, and Castle Paradox.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here. But again, please do not submit your votes on this thread.

For reference, here is a list of games released in 2013. Again, you can vote on ANY released OHRRPGCE game, regardless of how old or new it is. This list just shows what has been released recently.

I may add 2012 games to the list at some point if I have the chance.

If I might make a suggestion: you should allow public voting in some capacity. Just speaking from experience, people forget about the voting threads if they are not active, and lists of games also help people think of games.

The Top-15 is a very nice idea. So all games are eligible from any year?

Yes, any and all released OHRRPGCE games are eligible.

I'll change that. I guess it showed up as being "updated" in 2013 and that's how it ended up on the list.

I am glad you clarified that! Somehow I was thinking that only recently released games were eligible.

I'm actually confused.

What is the list for if the possible games to vote on are all of the games in the history of the OHR?

Anthracite Solstice is really more of a tech demo, I don't think it should be on the list. It doesn't even have any actual gameplay.

Let's not go DQ'ing games for lack of gameplay. Half the OHR would be out of the running.

I agree with Spoonweaver on this one. Worst case scenario is that the game isn't picked for Top 15, but that doens't really matter.

If you'd still like me to take it down I will, but people are still free to play/choose it as part of their Top list.

To encourage people to play and judge new games and not just copy and paste their votes from three years ago as usual.

For that matter, I think the 2012 release list should also be posted, especially since we never had a Game of the Year vote for it (though, if we're doing a Top 15 vote anyway, it might not hurt if MBS dropped in a few subcategories to encourage the community to pick the Top 5 of 2012, and the various "best of" categories, like best graphics and writing, while we're still in a voting mood). It's extra work, but at least we wouldn't have to miss a Game of the Year, even if we are six months past the usual voting period.

I'll second this notion. If we publicly post lists, people will also see games they have never played and maybe be inspired to try some of them out.
