I like the idea of this contest and I'm going to give it a go.

I have an immediate audience ready and eager to playtest my game now that I've moved in with my two little cousins. With that in mind, I'm going to try to make a little game that children will be able understand and enjoy.

This is a great contest. I had originally planned to enter, but I ended up starting work on a game in the last month so sadly won't be entering unless it's something very simple.

I just wanted to suggest Star Guard as inspiration. It uses 5 colors, simple controls, pretty low resolution, and is an excellent side scroller.

I couldn't play Woryurs of Woberyun due to a bug in nightly builds that deletes the last menu. I'll have that fixed tomorrow.

The game should come with a copy of game.exe, so you should be able to use that. Right?

I'm gonna try this thing.

Area: II
Resolution: II (I believe)
Controls: III
Color Depth: III
Graphics: II

EDIT: Just for this game, I learned random map generation. It seems like it's gonna be good. :)

The thing I'm sayin' is that alectormancy don't like the file. Are you using the nightly for it?

bad news. The exe doesn't seem to work.
The Procedure entry point Mix_GetChunkDecoder could not be located in the dynamic link library SDL_mixer.dll
So much for playin' a game or two before bed.

Wow, well thanks for working out the kinks for me. I think I fixed the problem but if anyone has a problem playing it still, let me know.

Once again, my entry into this contest is called:

Very nice, I like one-button games. It's quite satisfying getting a critical hit. It's a bit easy though; I had to try really hard to die. Perhaps a scoring mechanic would raise the intensity level, so getting perfect hits would be worth more points? Something like that.

Anyway, I think it's quite loverly.

hmm... well I didn't want it to be too hard.

After looking through the rules it seems I can use texts without breaching rank 3 on anything so I'll look into giving it a scoring system. Might even be able to cram a top score board in there. However, I'm considering it a finished game for now, so it's unlikely to be improved upon anytime soon.

Maybe if I win? :v:
