I prefer my followers to be a decent level so they can take a hit from my sword when they inevitably run between me and the dragon in mid-attack.

I've never found a use for the scoundrel. The templar is obviously useful just for tanking, but I love the hex from the enchantress.

I use the Enchantress myself. Never touched the Scoundrel after seeing that he was bad for the first area you have him in (though now that I'm in Nightmare and have a lot more crowd destroying spells, I think he might serve better).
