Spittle

Spittle moves up and tries to trip up the zombie before attacking it.

Melee Touch Attack: 12 + 3 + 3 + 0 = 18 Hit!
Opposed STR/DEX Check: 15 + 3 + 3 + 0 = 21 Success!

The Zombie falls prone!

Spittle then brings his halberd to bear and chops into the zombie's thigh with a sickening crunch.

Spittle: 9 + 3 + 4 + 3 = 19 Hit! Spittle hits for (1d10[5] + 4) 9 damage

Zombie 3

The zombie staggers forward, pushing past the others that have gotten in its way.

Zombie 4
You can't see what this zombie is doing, though you do hear movement.

Round 3!

Defiling Skeleton 2

The skeleton lies still, though you see that there is a gem in its skull that has begun to glow brightly. It doesn't move, but you feel the air growing slightly colder.

Tim-Tim

Tim-Tim moves up the stairs and lashes out with both claw and dagger at the skeleton.

Dagger: 12 + 3 + 1 - 4 + -2 = 10 Miss!
Claw: 17 + 3 + 3 - 8 + -2 = 13 Miss!

Tim-Tim's first attacks goes wild, missing the skeleton by more than a foot. The second attack does slightly better, only missing the skeleton by an inch.

Defiling Skeleton 1

The skeleton completely ignores the gnome, probably viewing him as a minor threat to be dealt with at a later time. It instead hefts its battle axe, and takes a powerful swing at Holy Saint Akbar al-Akbar.

Defiling Skeleton: 1 + 2 + 2 = 5 Miss!

Akbar manages to duck under the blow, simultaneously pushing the skeleton off balance at a critical moment. The skeleton loses its grip on the battle axe, which goes clattering down the stairs. Completely off balance, it trips and falls to its knees.

Zombie 2

The zombie lifts itself up from where it was knocked prone by Spittle. Seeing an opportunity, Spittle hacks at the zombie again, trying to prevent it from getting up again.

Spittle's Attack of Opportunity: 4 + 3 + 4 + 3 = 14 Hit! Spittle hits for (1d10[4] + 4) 8 damage

The attack drops the zombie, rendering it motionless on the ground.

Zombie 5

The zombie takes a step to the north east, stepping all over its fallen comrade, and then takes a swing at Spittle.

Zombie: 17 + 1 + 1 = 19 Hit! Zombie hits for (1d6[1] + 1) 2 damage

The zombie just manages to hit Spittle, though the fighter's armor mostly prevents it from doing a great deal of damage.

If Saint Akbar fells the second Skeleton, Beardthar will go down the stairs and attack the nearest zombie. If Saint Akbar does not fell the skeleton, Beardthar will attack the skeleton.

Holy Saint Akbar al-Akbar

Holy Saint Akbar al-Akbar raises his falchion high and brings it down on the prone skeleton.

Akbar: 16 + 2 + 5 + 2 = 25 Hit! Akbar hits for (2d4[4] + 3 + 4 - 5) 6 damage

The falchion bites into the skeleton, but it disregards some of the damage done to it.

Beardthar

Beardthar runs into place to help Akbar, and then takes a powerful two-handed strike at the skeleton.

Beardthar: 6 + 2 + 7 + 2 = 17 Hit! Beardthar hits for (2d6[7] + 3) 10 damage

The shillelagh smashes down into the prone skeleton, not quite dropping it, but certainly shattering a few bones.

Peanut

Taking careful aim, Peanut looses another two arrows at one of the zombies near Spittle.

Arrow 1: 18 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 22 Hit! Peanut hits for (1d6[3] + 0 - 5) 0 damage
Arrow 2: 8 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 12 Hit! Peanut hits for (1d6[1] + 0 - 5) 0 damage

Both arrows punch into the zombie, but it ignores them as if the arrows had never struck.

Zombie 1

The mindless zombie hefts its club and takes a swing at Spittle.

Zombie: 6 + 1 + -1 = 6 Miss!

Spittle easily dodges the zombie's clumsy attack.

Zombie 6

At first, you don't see the zombie, then Peanut calls out that it's rounding the corner and is about to approach from behind.

Princess Berry and Rhaedoc
Not in combat

You come to, from uneasy sleep. You look around to see what it was that woke you, but find nothing in the room. The room is the same as it was since you were captured and imprisoned here. It's a 20'x30' room and is absolutely filthy. The floor might have been white marble at one point, but now it's just covered in dirt and grime. The walls look as if they had once been well made, but are now covered in mold and fungus. You look down, and see that your hands are still tied, though days of struggling have loosened them somewhat.

At the far end of the room is a boarded window, you haven't been able to try to break it yet, as you've been barely able to move. At the opposite end is a door, and you realize that that is what woke you. Outside, you can hear the distinct sound of combat. It was a loud and clear voice shouting, "In the name of al-Akbar!" (whatever that means) that woke you.

(OOC: marionline, go ahead and post what you want your character to do. I'll follow up with responses, dice rolls, etc... Feel free to ask any other questions in the meta-chat section.)

Spittle

Spittle tries to trip up one of the zombie.

Melee Touch Attack: 9 + 3 + 3 + 0 = 15 Hit!
Opposed STR/DEX Check: 14 + 3 + 3 + 0 = 20 Success!

The Zombie falls prone! Spittle takes the opportunity to bury his halberd into the zombie's undead flesh.

Spittle: 11 + 3 + 4 + 2 = 20 Hit! Spittle hits for (1d10[7] + 0) 7 damage

The halberd hacks the zombie's arm off, but the zombie simply stares back up at the fighter with dull, dead eyes.

Zombie 3

The zombie hefts its club and takes a swing at Spittle.

Zombie: 14 + 1 + 1 = 16 Hit! Zombie hits for (1d6[6] + 1) 7 damage

Spittle, off-guard from his attack on the other zombie, is ill-prepared to defend against the zombie and gets brained by the heavy club.

Zombie 4

You can't see the zombie now, but you can only guess from Peanut's warning that it's coming around from behind.

Round 03

Defiling Skeleton 2

The glow intensifies in the gem, and you see all the moss and fungal growth around it turn black and die. Bright pinpoints of light appear in the eyes of the skeleton, and it rises up. Understandably surprised, Beardthar, Tim-Tim, and Akbar all turn to strike at the skeleton as it rises up from where it lay just a few seconds ago.

Akbar's Attack of Opportunity: 15 + 2 + 2 = 19 Hit! Akbar hits for (2d4[5] + 3 + 4 - 5) 7 damage

Beardthar Attack of Opportunity: 12 + 2 + 7 + 2 = 23 Hit! Beardthar hits for (2d6[8] + 3) 11 damage

Tim-Tim's Dagger Attack of Opportunity: 14 + 3 + 3 - 4 + -2 = 14 Hit! Tim-Tim hits for (1d4[4] + -2 - 5) 0 damage

Tim-Tim's Claw Attack of Opportunity: 12 + 3 + 3 - 4 + -2 = 12 Miss!

Total Attack of Opportunity Damage: 19

The skeleton is obviously very battered, but it still manages to rise to its feet despite the three adventures hitting it with everything they had.

It turns towards the paladin, and if it had lips, you're sure it would have been sneering.

Defiling Skeleton: 18 + 2 + 2 = 22 Hit! Defiling Skeleton hits for (1d6[3] + 2) 5 damage

Its battleaxe cuts into Holy Saint Akbar al-Akbar, wounding him.

Knowledge (Dungeoneering) (1d20 + Ranks + INT)
  • Akbar: 20 + 0 + -1 = 19 Success
    Beardthar: 6 + 0 + 1 + 2 = 9 Fail
    Peanut: 18 + 2 + 2 = 22 Success
    Spittle: 18 + 0 + 1 = 19 Success
    Tim-Tim: 4 + 0 + 1 = 5 Fail
Seeing the skeleon in action, you know what it is now. It's a special type of undead that feeds on plant life. Each time it is struck down, it absorbs life from the plants around it, which is why the moss along the stairs died. To put it down for good, you need to destroy the gem in its forehead when it goes down.

I try to sit up and move my arms to loosen my hands, while I try to remember for how long I've been imprisoned here, thoug I can't tell for sure. 'Long enough to take a shower but not long enough for a new hair cut... still, that's long enough.' I say to myself with a bitter grin. 'Why the hell am I here anyways?'
Before my mood gets even darker I start shouting like I did countless(?) times before: „Do you think that's funny? I don't! Let me get out of here! Let me go home! Hello? Anyone there? You did forget me, Guys! I'm still here.“
After a while I stop shouting, with the feeling of satisfaction of not beeing a nice prisoner, but an annoying one.
I sight, 'It's useless.' and wait, while I silently pray for the sound of combat outside to mean something good.

Tim-Tim

Tim-Tim takes a quick step back and starts chanting a spell.

1d100 (37) = Success!

Gritting his teeth through the pain, Tim-Tim manages to cast the spell and two missiles of arcane energy streak through the air and slam into the skeleton.

Missile 1: The missile hits for (1d4[3] + 1) 4 damage
Missile 2: The missile hits for (1d4[2] + 1) 3 damage

Total Damage: 7

The damage is too much for the skeleton, and it falls to the ground again. Once more, the gem in its forehead starts to glow faintly.

Defiling Skeleton 1

The skeleton manages to get to its feet, and then claws at the paladin.

Defiling Skeleton: 16 + 2 + 2 = 20 Hit! Defiling Skeleton hits for (1d4[1] + 2) 3 damage

The skeleton's claws manage to tear into Akbar's flesh, leaving bleeding gashes in his skin.

Zombie 2

The zombie lies motionless.

Zombie 5

The zombie hefts its club and takes a swing at Spittle.

Zombie: 20 + 1 + 1 = 22 Critical hit! Zombie hits for (1d6[9] + 2) 11 damage

Whether because Spittle was off-guard having just attacked the other zombie, or perhaps through some depraved stroke of luck, the zombie's club catches Spittle square in his jaw, all but knocking the human out.

(OOC: by my count, Spittle is now at 3 hp)
