Rewards for winning
By popular demand, you now get Slimebucks for arena victories. The formula is roughly the sum of the opponent's stats divided by four (HP counts 1/10 and MP counts 1/5), but you get a bonus if your total is lower than your opponents. There is no penalty for beating a weaker opponent, though your reward is smaller to begin with in that case.
In an unprecedented show of generosity, I'm applying this retroactively for you guys. That means that the following Slimebucks are to be granted:
RedMaverickZero: 143
Twinconclusive: 65
Surlaw: 83
Technically, I should get some for beating Surlaw, too, but I'm done with maths for today. Enjoy your rewards and KEEP BATTLING!
(Psst, new attack for you Int fans out there. It might be the best effect attack yet!)

Forum profile contains arena stats, including wins/losses. As for attacks, my thought was that knowing what others' attacks are A) would provide attack spoilers and B) could compromise a player's strategy, but I'll think about it again.
(edit) What do fellow arena-goers think? Should attacks be kept private?

I agree about keeping the attacks private. Half the fun is not knowing what the opponent will pull out.
As a for instance, knowing Twin had a secret attack last battle but not knowing what it was till he used it was absolutely thrilling.
PS: do stat debuffs just not display anymore, or is The Judge just immune to Trance?

Ah, looks like I mis-fixed that. (I meant to make it so that effects didn't re-apply when they were already on, but I had fixed it in reverse.)
It's better now, plus I updated the good Judge's in-battle stats, which will display correctly as of the next move.

Betting
I have an idea. Suppose that when you issue a challenge, you could make a bet. So when you receive a challenge from an opponent, you may (optionally) see:
SomeSlime has challenged you to a battle
And if you didn't like this offer (maybe the challenger is WAY stronger than you, so you can (optionally) edit the bet and make a counter-proposal)
So now you counterpropose that if you win, you want a lot more than 10 slimebucks, and that if you lose, you want a consolation prize of 1 on his strength points (of which he obviously has enough to spare)
So then maybe SomeSlime is unwilling to part with even a single precious strength point, so he comes back with the counter-offer:
And so each battle could (optionally) be preceded by a bargaining phase.
In addition to trading SlimeBucks or stats, or items, maybe you could also offer free-form bargaining, so somebody could offer:
AND if you want to get really crazy, you could add the option for other players who are NOT involved in a battle to place side bets as they watch the fight.
So halfway through the battle, when a new round passes, you might see something like:
And then any spectator who is NOT participating in the battle can choose to accept the bet. Or if nobody accepts the bet, then it just goes away.
SomeSlime has challenged you to a battle
Code: Select all
If you win this battle, SomeSlime will give you 10 SlimeBucks
If you lose this battle, you will give SomeSlime 10 of your SlimeBucks
Code: Select all
If you win this battle, SomeSlime will give you 100 SlimeBucks
If you lose this battle, you will give SomeSlime 10 of your SlimeBucks
If you lose this battle, SomeSlime will give you 1 of his Strength Points
So then maybe SomeSlime is unwilling to part with even a single precious strength point, so he comes back with the counter-offer:
Code: Select all
If you win this battle, SomeSlime will give you 200 SlimeBucks
If you lose this battle nothing will happen
In addition to trading SlimeBucks or stats, or items, maybe you could also offer free-form bargaining, so somebody could offer:
Code: Select all
If you win this battle, SomeSlime will "Write a review of your game"
If you lose this battle you must "Compose town music for SomeSlime's game"
AND if you want to get really crazy, you could add the option for other players who are NOT involved in a battle to place side bets as they watch the fight.
So halfway through the battle, when a new round passes, you might see something like:
Code: Select all
James Paige bets 10 slimebucks that LOLSlime2 will come from behind and beat SomeSlime. [Accept?]
James Paige bets 50 slimebucks that LOLSlime2 will last at least 5 more rounds against SomeSlime. [Accept?]
