Master K Review: Hydration

This is my review of Hachi's game, Hydration.

Hydration's title screen is simply the name of the game, in blue. The music is sort of mysterious and sad.

You then get the story of Julius, the main character. He is an Oceanic Knight, who's purpose was to protect Princess Aqualis, the daughter of the late king Aquarius. However, the god of Wrath sent a meteor to Earth, leaving it in ruin, and now the princess is missing. You must help Julius find the princess. This involves searching skeletons and such for items that can get you past certain obstacles.

You must search the first skeleton for a dagger. Then, you go to a stone wall with a red rock, use it there, and face a golem. Then, you search a skeleton for some meat. You must get a stick from the sand, and then push a log off a cliff. Then, you encounter a flock of vultures. You must then place some meat on a skeleton nearest to you. You then obtain a beetle in the area next. You then go to a log with a strange substance on it. The beetle eats is and frees up a log, so you may cross the quicksand desert. You then scale a mountain, where you enounter bird people with an egg. Sadly, they have no food. You must inspect the egg and give it some meat. Then, speak to the birdman, and he will take you to another area. Ultimatly, you discover the Princess is held captive by a Priest of Wrath. He plans on sacrificing her to his god. I don't know what happens next, the fight was too hard.

All in all, this game is pretty good. It has a gameplay mechanic that drains your MP, or Hydration, as it is called ingame. You cannot run from any battle, and your only healing spell is five hydration. You lose one hydration every ten steps. So, use healing spells, or any spell, sparingly. You cannot replenish hydration. The graphics are suberb for a 48 hour game.
