I vote PA ;D Actually, while I'm on break, I could try to go to some other state that's relatively close. Maybe msw and I could come together!

Although Los Angeles is way too far for me to travel to any of these places, I really like the idea of a Meetup (perhaps a game-making-party)

How about holding a "Con" in an online virtual world where we could interact using our virtual avatars. Most online worlds allow voice communications too, and some have social interactions like waving, smiling, laughing, etc...

This type of "Con" is very cost effective, and is much more personal than an IRC chat... Some online worlds which I can think of would be WoW(first one that comes to mind and it's free to play now), Minecraft(it's fully cross-platform to ensure no slime is left behind), not sure of any which support voice chat though, as that would make it much more personable. Any ideas for other online virtual worlds that would be ideal to use. If OHR supported networking(damn integrate SDL_net with plotscript...), we could use that to host a Con in our own crafted virtual world. In fact there are tools out there that allow you to deploy an online world that could be used for this purpose. Byond is one example, or download an open server for WoW and mod the world to our liking(not sure if WoW has open servers like UO yet).

Related to this, I'm attending PAX East this weekend and will be running a blog from my phone as I go. Follow me and share in my shallow observations and disconnection from the general gaming public!

Community members here play minecraft with each other all the time. and using skype while playing isn't completely unheard of.

Basically, this already happens.

Philippines, even father, hehe :v:

Though a con would indeed be fun to go to. The last major con I've been to was prolly back in '04. Still, as small as our community is, and as spread out over the globe as we are, I can see how it wouls be rather impractical (if not impossible) to get everyome together. Still, one never knows.
Being from the third world, I reserve the right to speak in the third person.

First person to make it rich on the OHR had better arrange one of these, free of charge, for everyone in the community!
I... I still exist... somewhere.

Come join us on irc.esper.net in channel #slimesalad for help, chat, and general fun! We love company.

We could arrange an alternative meetup for non-North Americans. We should meet in the middle!

According to geomidpoint.com that would be in Queenstown. Perfect! That's a resort town and a popular place to hold conferences.

Just slip through pocket dimensions, quickest method of travel ever. How else could I get a crumpet from England and bring it back to Chili in a matter of seconds?

Speaking of which, I haven't done that in a long time....
