Mother 4!

Well im making an unnofficial addition to the mother series (for those of you who dont know what that is, mother 2 was released in the US as earthbound.). I need ideas! I have none yet, except giygas will return.
This is going to be my most serious game yet (plus probably the first on ive ever finished).

There's already a Mother 4 fangame in progress.
I don't want to burst your bubble so early in the creative process, so I give two recommendations: Either change your game name to something else (like Revenge of Giygas or something), or try to find a way to join the staff. They do have openings, you might qualify for all I know.

The Japanese Mother 2 title was already 'Giygas Strikes Back' so you may want to avoid anything "return-ey" or "revengey." That being said, I think a good Mother fangame for the OHR is in order. Go for it! I'd encourage swirly backgrounds and seizure enducing psychic attacks in any game!

Just call it Mother 4 and then turn the whole thing into a race to see who gets done the fastest, them, you, or Nintendo (if they ever make Mother 4). First one done gets rights to the title.

More like half a dozen of them... unless maybe the others all changed their names to avoid sharing their titles with all the other Mother 4s. Or they've been abandoned already.

Anyway, yeah, just calling it Mother 4 probably wouldn't be a good idea. Maybe go with "Mother 4: [Insert Subtitle Here]" or even something like "Mother OHR" (with or without a subtitle), kinda like how the original version of Mother 3 was going to be called "Earthbound 64" in English.

Having Giygas returning (again) may not be such a good idea, either. Mother 2/Earthbound and Mother 3 did the "bad guy from previous game comes back in a new form" thing already, and the first time it was Giygas coming back. And he seemed to be completely destroyed at the end of Earthbound, so it'd be hard to bring him back (unless maybe part of him stuck around in Pokey or something, but then he's trapped in a big indestructible metal ball that won't open... so unless someone figures out a way to open that thing, even that isn't likely to work.)

i wanna be called Mother 4.

seriously though, i'd go with something like Mother OHR. it shows that it's part of the Mother universe, and that it's NOT the same as the other Mother fangames.
