Apophenia Progress Thread

Post by guo »

Haven't worked on it as much as I would like to recently. But, so far:

*Simplified combat

*Many new playable characters, each with a special ability and role

*All melee attacks target closest enemy, all enemy melee attacks target first slot (making party positioning important)

*Testing all sorts of interesting battles, not just exploding barrels :hurr:

*Rebalanced alot of items, fixed the attacks

*Working on music and ambient BG noise

I'm still open to NPC submissions if you would like a presence in the game - see previous thread somewhere on SS.

No demo planned for release any time soon, I'll keep this thread updated as I work on it, and add some more screenshots soon.

It's been a while! There was a large earthquake where I live that levelled the central city. I've (obviously) had more pressing needs in the past 2-3 months since I was last here... I've been working full time hours to cover the staff that left AND studying full time. Now that things are getting back to (relatively) normal, I am going to start working on my game again.

Have I missed anything major? New OHR version released? Senator Surlaw impeached? Chronoboy changed the way you think about game design?

No, you came back just in time. Developers are talking about releasing Zenzizenzic very soon.

How close to the quake were you? Seems like the whole world is rumbling these days. Makes one glad to live in hurricane alley.

Well, I was right in the centre of the CBD when the quake hit. I was lucky to get out of the bus exchange alive. I ran out into the middle of the street just as a bunch of buildings came down. I had to make my way home down the centre of the main street. Couldn't see more than a couple of meters in front of me for the dust, and the smell of LPG was more than enough motivation to get out of there fast. Stopped to check on people on the way, but I was mostly in shock and worried, since I hadn't received a txt reply from my girlfriend. Saw quite a few ... corpses... and a couple of people I knew were killed :(

Luckily, my house survived (sans a couple of TVs). Quite a few people I know are moving to Australia now, but I remain - defiant! (And mainly because I can't afford to move to Australia).

Anyways, my life is heinously busy at the moment, but I'm keen to pick up where I left off. Got some cool ideas I'm ready to implement so hopefully there should be a new demo out sometime in the near future.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

I am glad you made it through okay, and glad to hear you remain defiant! :)

The zenzizenzic release hasn't happened yet, but it is super close now.
Senator Surlaw narrowly avoided impeachment (this time)

Thanks James.

A new release, super close? Now I'm excited. Is there a list of new features anywhere?
