Is there a list of all of the characters on the cover? Some I don't recognize.
EDIT: Nevermind, figured them all out.

Grrrreat! Text for the free sprites could be construed as indicating my having some form of ego, but I can tell it's done in good humor. Good job man, the idea of a "Nathan Karr Fangame" just seems hilarious.
Musclemen make me want to laugh as much as they confound me. Another solid Mazes & Hamsters article.

Remeber: God made you special and he loves you very much. Bye!
Boooo, favored fighters with -2 dex? Everything else would totally make them my favorite for PCs.
Oh and I suppose the HotOHR stuff is cool too.

Thanks for the video review BaconLabs. A lot of the stuff you suggested or noticed has already been fixed for the next update, whenever that will be. I don't really want to upload lots of small changes over time, so I'm waiting until I have a significant content update for another upload. But still, you noticed a few things that I and others didn't, so that helps. I hope that further updates to the game don't disappoint. Look for a thread in a next few weeks!
And yes, it's luck (or whatever the opposite of that is - unluck) that Marissa died on your playthrough. It rarely happens to me. But it did happen once and so I've actually got a couple fixes for that, so it should be less annoying next time. No way I'd have it attack the lowest health person!
I also was trying to avoid defending my game until the contest was over (I think it's only fair to judge what the game actually presents than what the author thinks he was presenting) but a lot of reviewers didn't, imo, use skills to their fullest extent. I know that I made the game so I know what everything does and where everything is, so I'm going to try to fix that. I'm working on hints/tutorials to help you use skills (they are optional) and things like that to solve these problems, as well as just documentation for those that want to go that route. But I almost never used a regular attack during boss fights, and so they often went quicker with fewer deaths. And don't underestimate the power of Smash/Break - it really drops down the stats of the Spider, making him nearly harmless. But the poison probably still would have killed you... (And so I've worked on fixes for that.)

Have barely read the issue, but I just have to be honest and draw everyone's distaste. Am I the only one in the world who would rather READ something than WATCH it? Whenever I go to NHL.com and they have some headline that I find interesting, I always get pissed when it turns out to be a video rather than an article, and usually leave. Likewise, I went to those other HotOHR reviews, found that they were videos, and promptly left. I'll watch them when I have time (and silence) later, but I just wanted to see if anyone here agrees with me on this?
Other than that, I only read the Heart results, and I liked the format of the article a lot. I'm a little disappointed to place below games that didn't meet the time requirement, or that have actual bugs, but I can't be too upset. And I think the article does a real good job of showing what a success the contest has been so far.

I did well because so few people voted? The system works!
Overall, great issue. I'm looking forwards to playing RMZ's updated batman game, and am excited by the prospect of getting one of those nifty t-shirts. Congradulations to everyone who participated in the Heart contest!

To friends long gone, and those I've yet to meet - thank you.

You are not. I like video playthrough/reviews sometimes, but for RPGs they're rarely interesting for me to watch unless it's a game I'm really invested in. I can see them being very useful to the game's author, but as a member of the audience I'd rather read a cohesive review.msw188 wrote:Have barely read the issue, but I just have to be honest and draw everyone's distaste. I can see where ya'll are coming from, and reading is preferable to audio/video when I don't want to be immersed in the full full very long experience that comes with some games.Surlaw wrote:You are not. But a nifty and interesting game where the players/reviewers will certainly do things differently from one another, I love seeing videos of that stuff. Someone around here did an LP of Wandering Hamster, which is probably unfinished, but I thought it was neat, and I'd totally watch someone play through Vikings of Midgard.
Which reminds me, I might need to devise some extra spice for my upcoming playthrough of Motrya. I think I'll get started on Tuesday.
EDIT: whose idea was it to include ACHIEVEMENTS for voting results
great gravy, that's brilliant

Regarding msw's review:
I'm also in the same camp as msw as far as text vs. video, so I do appreciate that it was a text review.
This line irks me because A) it does pause on menus and shops, B) it's a feature I added in because msw asked for it, and C) I did so half a month ago. With the addition of pausing on menues and shops, I'd gladly substitute "well" with "excellently".

I like the videos a lot, but there are way too many this issue. I say they should be limited to 1 per issue, 2 being generous.

I'm the exact same way, except I don't go to NHL.com. :Pmsw188 wrote:Have barely read the issue, but I just have to be honest and draw everyone's distaste. Hey Mogri, sorry about the thing in my review. I wrote that before you updated the game, and I just wasn't around my computer and/or the internet enough this month to re-download then re-write a new review.
As it was, I purposely refrained from voting on your game because I knew that you had fixed the issues. It would have been the only game I would have voted on, besides my own I guess...? But I should have some more to say about the other games by the end of this month.
