Time Trail Challenge! [Blue train - FAILED]

Post by Blue Train »

The time trail challenge will be a time based challenge to get more creativity going, and to make a game you would have never made had you not have the weekend off to do something crazy like this. Deeply inspired by the various contests that revolve around making games in a few days.

HOW IT WORKS;

post in this thread if you dare, asking for a challenge. You may make simple requests (___ wants to make a platformer, ___ wants to use a color limit, ect) but besides that the game's theme is left entirely in someone else's hands.

After posting you have 2 days to accept or forfit. You can not work on the game until you announce you accept to prevent people having extra time.
If you know your gonna be free on a weekend, try posting before the weekend and accept when your ready.

After accepting, you have exactly 72 hours to make the game. You may import assets, but keep in mind the whole point is to make a game in 3 days.

After making the game, why not post it here? You will be listed in the HALL OF TRAILS, and you must pass on the crown by giving the next post a theme. You can, however choose to forfit your theme to the public, where anyone can give a theme, and the challenger would pick the one they like the most.

To kick things off, Give me a challenge, ANY CHALLENGE!

Make a game involving short-term time travel (i.e. more along the lines of Majora's Mask, Braid, or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time than Chrono Trigger). Whatever genre you want. Bonus points if the player is able to interact with his past selves.

Anybody can use this one...

A one-map RPG (128x128) with the following palette: 10 shades of gray (white and black are OK), 6 shades of one other color.

Well, I did ending up failing, mainly because I didnt spend enough time on it.

I wanted to at least get done a record and playback of the hero's position, so that way it would appear that you go back in time. Mostly posting this incase anyone takes up the task of helping me out.

Wow, that is an extremely ambitious project for 72 hours. I figured an RPG or an adventure game or something.

Hah, looking back that would be a better use of time probably, but I really wanted to get this idea out there. It's been stuck in my head for awhile, and I guess at least this gives me a chance to make it into something... someday...

Probably wouldve gotten something working had i spent more time on it, but I had to get books, and other excuses.

That's okay, cuz I failed too. I didn't even make it, due to complications with college course internet passcodes. :zombie:
