THE CAMPAIGN: Chapter 1-"The Dragons in the Desert"

Vire begins a defensive summoning spell and retreats back a bit. Liev does not fly any closer to the ground than it already is.

I've heard that swords to do work against things such as this, but who knows for sure.

The dwarf seems frightened.

[Momoka]

Fortunately, we have no need for swords

Echo head 30 ft north to get within range of the monster, expends his precognition to improve his aim, and blasts the Fire with a full power Energy Ray of the icy-cold variety.

[Spoonweaver]

Echo, cockily struts forward and blasts the elemental with a ray of cold. Fssssstttt!
The Fire takes a big hit.

The Fire seems upset by the instant loss of a little more than half it's fire. It seems to cast it's pupiless gaze upon the one who rob it of it's heat.




It looks like Kytana is going to do something.

Kytana moves till he is south of the Fire and says:

Feel the bite of my arrow, flame!

He attacks the monster as best he can.

[Spoonweaver]

Kytana Rushes up to match Echo's effectiveness in battle. He readies his arrow and lets it fly. At the last second however, he glances back at Echo. The arrow goes wildly off target, hitting the cactus mere feet away from echo.




Perhaps The lizardman can do better.

[Bob the Hamster]

Ehaism charges the sputtering ball ball of flame, intending to do what he does best. Hit it Really Hard With His Sword.

[Spoonweaver]

Ehaism charges forward until he's toe to toe with the fire. He readies his sword but seems a bit short of breath.

The Oxen get startled and go to run.
Gregor calms them down just as they are about to trample Kytana.

The fire moves effortlessly around Ehaism, who gets an attack of opportunity. Hit! However the strike seams to have its damage "reduced."

The Fire then swells up into the sky, like a massive pillar of dread, and crashes down upon Echo the Psion. Catching hold of him, the fire flings him high into the air and takes one final swing at the flailing elan. Thus reducing the lifeless corpse to ashes that scatter in the wind without a sound.



Vire's snake appears. How will he command it?

Vire stands stunned, able only to process one thought: We are all dead men.

The snake, devoid of commands to the contrary, attacks the fire-thing.

[Spoonweaver]

Vire stands stunned by the lose of his friend. His snake charges forward and bites the fiery beast. Though his attacks hit home, the snake doesn't seem to accomplish much. In fact, it catches on fire, and only through the grace of it's fire resistance does it still exist on this plane.



Things are looking bleak. Can Kytana pull something off?

Kytana moves east, then north barely enough to get out of the way of the oxen, firing a arrow and exclaiming

This is for the lost ones!

[Spoonweaver]

Kytana gets out of the way of the oxen and fires an arrows at the fire. The arrow hits the fire and surprisingly sticks in. It seems to have done a bit of damage.



Can Ehaism bring it down?

[Bob the Hamster]

Ehaism can still smell Echo's ashes in the air.
His blood is pounding in his ears.
Ehaism flies into a Barbarian Rage and slashes the deadly fire with all his might

[Spoonweaver]

Ehaism swings with all the might he can muster at the fire elemental, but the elemental slyly slipped out of the way at the last second. He did however land a bite before the monster completely evaded him, scorching his face in the process: for ten points of damage.

The Oxen run off! Gregor the Dwarf takes chase!

The Fire lashes back with equal ferocity, swiping at Ehaism for fiery revenge! Dealing 13 points of damage.



Can Vire extinguish the fire?

[Mogri]

No.

Vire is not equipped to deal with a monster like this (viz., burning), but he does have an ace up his sleeve... maybe. He takes out the golden wand, takes aim, and waves it with all his mi--er, charisma.

Hopefully it's not a wand of haste monster or something dumb like that.

[Spoonweaver]

3 purple bolts of magic shoot forth from the wand.
(You recognize this spell as magic missile. Judging by the number of bolts you assume it's cast at about 5th level)
The bolts smash into the fire cause it a fair amount of distress, and more importantly, 13 damage.

The snake lashes out again, accomplishing close to nothing.



Vire seems to have the monster on the run, can Kytana finish it off before someone else becomes charbroiled.
