What technology do you use?

Post by adventuregnome »

I'm new to the forum (but not new to game development) and I'm curious to know what technology you all use to develop games.

Welcome to our community! :D

Most of us use this to make our games:http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/ind ... n_Page.html
Although sometimes I delve into Construct or GM, I definitely prefer the OHR for my RPG-Making needs.

Yeah, we are pretty heavily into the OHRRPGCE around here.

Although any development environment/language is welcome.

And although I am a developer of the OHRRPGCE, I do really love game making with <a href="http://python.org/">python</a>+<a href="http://pygame.org/">pygame</a>

I mostly use the OHRRPGCE these days, but I've also fiddled around with Game Maker and the RPG Maker series (95, 2000, 2003, and XP... I had pretty much lost interest by the time they came out with VX, though, so I never tried that one) some in the past.

I'm not familiar with OHRRPGCE, but I'll check it out. I have taught GameMaker in the past, and I think it's a great tool for anyone who wants to learn game development and doesn't have programming experience. It's versatile and I've seen some really interesting projects made with it. My preferred technology is C# and XNA Game Studio, but I'm also having fun with Java and the Android SDK. :-)
