Brawl Party Night, TONIGHT!

Man we played for a while, and some crazy matches in there too. I definitely laughed out loud a couple of times! I'm glad Baconlabs and me got the Wario chant going in the one match near the end, haha.

I'm still not a fan of the Smashballs, but I still had a great time. My little brother couldn't seem to connect to any of us but me, I told him to look into it on Nintendo's site. He's had that problem with that other friend of mine, Goerg. Anyway, let's definitely try to play more often!

He might have to set up port forwarding. I have to do that (and disable my router's Firewall) in order to play Brawl with SDHawk.

I'd be interested in playing again tonight, sure. My game's been really off lately for some reason; I think I won maybe 2 matches last night total.

Anyone interested in a dittos contest? (One match as all Mario, then all Luigi, etc...) We never finished the last one cause someone dropped out, but it was pretty amusing.

I will try to get on from 8 to 8:30.
HOWEVER, I completely forgot that my wireless connection has an attitude. Some days it works perfectly, other days it doesn't do squat. And my wireless manager is out somewhere else watching the Superbowl.
So if I'm not on by then, I'm probably going to be absent the whole night.

Ditto contest sounds nifty. I don't know about going ditto for all 35 characters, but if you change the rules to 1 Stock match each or something, it's feasible.
And going by your order, the dittos will start with Mario and end on Sonic. So that means we'll go down a column, then go to the next one starting at the top again.
Mario > Luigi > Peach > Bowser > Donkey Kong > Diddy Kong > ... > G&W > Snake > Sonic

EDIT 11:10 now, jesus you guys like to play for a while! I couldn't do two nights in a row for much over two hours.

Tonight was awesome, too many great moments to recall them all. Here are a few of my favorites:

*Wonderfully dumb deaths for me with Ganondorf early, then DK late at that stupid 'hit the leaf to change its color' stage, haha.
*Two sacrifice kills as Bowser, one on Hawk, then one on JSH to even it out. I remember thinking I should just use that match to try to do one on all three of you, but I don't think I managed one on Matt.
*Best moment might have been JSH as Jiggly with solid lead on Hawk (Sonic) going to pick up a bomb, but exploding it instead. Gotta pick up in the air with dodge, not with attack, to be safe!
*Matt ducking in the corner as Luigi I think, me as Wario crawling over to him and then using totally uncharged fart attack, it looked really funny.
*Matt using Diddy at the leaf stage mentioned earlier, running around avoiding Game&Watch (who had a solid lead), finally connects with an overB and after letting go GW just falls and dies, haha.

Now that we've had some matches (a lot) together, what do you guys think of each other's characters? Hawk was doing pretty well with Sonic at the end there; none of my other friends ever pick him (nor me), so I didn't know how to fight him too well. I think JSH's best is Snake. Me and Hawk both did real well with Ike. I consider Peach my best, hence saving her for my last two matches. I'm not sure on Matt, maybe Luigi? What do you guys think?

Sometimes I pick Luigi and cower in the corner to make you guys feel bad for winning so much.
Sometimes I pick the character who's absolutely whooping me (Zelda, Sonic, Ike) and die in some embarrassing fashion.

You know, it's weird. When I try really hard, or not at all, I usually end up in 4th. And when I'm just ho-humming it, I win tremendously. My best matches this weekend have come from characters I seldom play, including Peach, Diddy Kong, Ice Cream, and Olimar.
My friends tell me I'm best with Ness and Marth, buuut I forgot about that.
On that leaf stage, I picked Diddy Kong deliberately to try a new technique I discovered. When doing the Monkey Flip (forward+B), use the jump button instead of the attack button and you'll do a meteor smash. It sealed the match, it seems! Awesome.

As mentioned above, ugh, Hawk was terrifying as Zelda, Ike, and Sonic. And Lucas. And Ness. And Pikachu. Okay, he was just plain tough.
MSW/JSH (I'm getting you two mixed up) was pretty tough too, as roughly the same characters.
ALSO, um, um, I really liked when we got to pair up as Mario characters. You had some good runs with DK, Snake, and Bowser, too.

My game is really, really off. I went through over six months of not playing then was only playing some friends who are new to the game, so I have lost a lot of the techniques I used to be good at.

I used to be very good at Zelda/Sheik and Luigi, but now I don't think I'm particularly good with anyone. I was only winning with Snake because he's incredibly effective in Free for Alls. (Almost as much as Ike)

I can't say who's good with who; I was getting my butt kicked most of the night.

I tried not to use any character more than once except Peach at the end (both wins, so Hawk's not THAT terrifying as Sonic, haha). Oh, and I remember using Dedede twice because the first match I had a couple dumb deaths and didn't want that to be my only Dedede match.

I think JSH likes to be hard on himself. I don't remember thinking that any one of us was vastly more or less threatening than others, except maybe when Matt would go for a few self-destructs, haha. If anything, I think Hawk (does he post here?) has a more annoying playstyle. Please, I don't mean that in a bad way at all, he just tries to play smart by staying out of the heavy combat areas and running away a lot. I'm just now remembering how annoying his Wolf was, haha. But I beat him when it came down to the two of us, and I know JSH and Matt both had some wins as well. So I don't think anyone was "terrifying", or "really really off".

I've been playing a pretty good deal lately (a couple times a week usually), and I think it's helping me stay pretty quick.

By the way, I'm Also (msw). I don't think I ever use Snake, and I definitely lost with Bowser after going for my two suicide kills, so you might be getting me mixed up even more than you think, Bacon, haha.

So when do we want to hold more Brawl action? This weekend's pretty good for me again, but I can also attempt weekday evenings. You never know, really.

I may have a couple of friends trying to get on around 10ish EST. If anyone's feeling it I'd say try signing on around that time tonight. But I might already have a full room, it's hard to say at the moment.

Sorry for ditching out a bit early on you guys there. This is the first night in a long while where the lag actually got bad, and it was kind of getting to me. I don't mind that much when a bomb appears randomly in front of my face (that's funny), but I do start to get frustrated when I lose because I'm trying to input all of my moves multiple times, not certain on when they are going to commit.

Can't be sure what the issue was; the only thing Nick and I have discovered on our end is that the less one has using the same connection, the better. It's why I always turn off my computer when I play.

We'll definitely have to go again. Maybe tomorrow night?
