I hope you mean July instead of August, because I don't think I can enter if it's a requirement to travel more than month into the past.
Also, is an outline going to count as one of the max colors for a sprite?
Because two colors seems to be taking it a little too far.
[edit] On second thought, it kind of makes graphics look more like they were made for the Game Boy, which is kind of neat.

Yeah, the outline counts too. Some RPGs on the NES didn't use outlines at all, the Dragon Warrior series for example. This is the technique I choose to use as well, I'd rather have an extra color than an outline. Also, is an outline going to count as one of the max colors for a sprite?

In actuality, a sprite on the NES could have more than three colors under some conditions. I think the way it works is that the top half and bottom half can have different colors (since any 16x16 sprite or maptile on the NES is actually four separate 8x8 tiles), but I'm not certain of the exact limitations of this and I think it'd unnecessarily complicate the rules here.
By the way, have a mall:

Oy, Now I realize that I'm no good at color management?
Those screenies are wonderful, guys, so I think I'll hop onto the bandwagon.
This was originally going to be a tavern, but I had more cool colors than I had warm ones, so I somehow turned it into an ice-dungeon.
I'll have to rewrite the story a little, but I'm sticking with this.
