I did a little research, and found that Cabal Online uses "nProtect Game Guardian" which is an anti-cheating program that runs in the background and monitors memory, trying to kill any other program that it thinks might be a cheating tool.

So for some reason, it thinks the OHRRPGCE is trying to cheat at Cabal Online.

Then perhaps there's some type of exception list it could be added to? Though I suppose one would have to contact the programmers for that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I should have known it was the Game Guard, but it never crossed my mind until I saw the post.

I'm a happy slime. :D
Hoping for favorable responses from nProtect.

Hello, this is Game Security Center from INCA Internet Co., Ltd.

Thank you for contacting us.

We are sorry to your inconvenience for playing game.

However, as to the erl files that you sent us, it would be normal closed.

Would you try to play again and again when you face with error?

Erl files are log files that GameGuard creates while in operation. The files like npgl.erl, npgg.erl, npgmup.erl, npsc.erl, npgm.erl should be made in GameGuard folder into the Game Installations folder.

It seems like that the normal closing gameguard. Therefore please send us fresh erl files that the error occurred to game2@inca.co.kr.

Thank you.

I think they only deal with GameGuard crashing, not it interfering with other applications. :(

Have you tried disabling it running in the background, then running either Custom or Game.exe?

I seem to recall Asheron's Call had this same issue way WAY back when.
To friends long gone, and those I've yet to meet - thank you.

Turn it off, basically.

And wow, CABAL has truly atrocious customer support. I can accept that they won't help with CABAL crashing other programs (I do tech support myself, and that's a much harder task then it sounds like), but they should at least tell you plainly >:(

Also, your computer is on 24/7 with an MMO running? How has it not melted yet?

Was Cabal online running when you grabbed the erl files?

I think the best results would be if you ran Cabal Online, then rand OHRRPGCE game.exe to get the error message, and then get the erl files without closing Cabal Online.

And if they won't look at the files, I will. You can zip them up and mail them to me if they are too big to post here. As long as they are plain text (and maybe even if they aren't) I can try to glean some useful information from them.

I tried running the OHRRPGCE while it was off and it worked just fine.

I made a topic in their forums, and it got locked. No replies. :(

So I looked at the erl files, and they are all in some sort of obfuscated binary format. I wasn't able to extract a single line of text :(

I sent them to nProtect tech support again, but no word from them.

However, yesterday, my girlfriend's brother tried to play an OHRRPGCE game, and his Zonealarm firewall blocked it, saying that it is a "keylogger".

This makes me thing that the reason that GameGuard blocks the OHRRPGCE could be because of the same kind of misidentification.

The OHRRPGCE's keyboard handler is part of its graphics backend, so I am wondering if you could test with the other gfx backend.

Try http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/nig ... dl-sdl.zip and see if it works while Cabal Online+GameGuard is running.

The gfx_sdl backend is a little buggy, but it should be usuable enough for testing.

Sorry for the VERY, VERY late reply, but it was only now that I could test it. And it works just fine. Thanks :)

Groovy.

We will eventually be moving to that backend as the default, we just have to work out a few more bugs and get it running faster.
