here is my entry for the contest Test of Normality:
http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewgame.php?t=3007

i didn't get to finish, but am going away for few days, so this is as far as i got. I had heaps of fun with it.

the original version is here:
http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewgame.php?t=944

Game features all original music, a very glitchy card game (cheap rip off of magic the gathering), unique battle system, etc.

A couple parts might be a bit puzzling to get thorugh, but let me know if you get stuck. There are a few parts where it requires you to push certain objects to the correct positions in order to advance. Have fun.

How much time do I have left? Till next Tuesday? Yeah, I don't think I can finish in time. It looks like I'll have to drop out.

You could always submit an unfinished version, especially if you got a decent amount of stuff done with it. The "finished" prize might be out, but "best"/"most improved" are still open even if you don't finish.

That's what I'll be doing with Okédoké--since the contest started, I finished with Chapter 4 and will have Chapter 5 done before September, but probably won't get much (if any) of the final chapter done in time.

I am also definitely not going to be finishing Wandering Hamster, but I will release a new demo with the stuff I have finished.

I definitly won't be done with Dawn, but I've got alot of work done on it and I'm happy with the progress I made :).

EDIT: I'm also gonna try to update my blog (see signiture for link) more regularly, probably weekly to keep up the hype for it.

The sudden acquisition of a job ate up most of my time (fair trade), though I too have gotten a lot of work done, mostly in the graphics department.

Hopefully when I get taken off the night shift, I'll have more time.

I had high hopes for getting slimes AND house escape done. Right now they're both sitting on the edge of completion and yet so far away from it. I literally have zero time to work on either of them. Complications occurred in both moving and class sign up so I've been going crazy for the last couple weeks and it seems like this might continue till after the contest end. So, I'm not going to be submitting either to the contest. I feel kind of bad about not submitting anything now that so many others seem to have dropped out too.
I hope the prize doesn't end up being awarded to someone by default.....

I think this kind of content is a bit harder to meet, since the game you're working on is your "primary game", sort of, and you don't want to rush anything or drop anything just to meet a deadline.

I will be releasing Phantom Tactics chapter 1 for the contest. It's not a complete game, but I'm not dropping out, either.

Random question about the Sept. 1st deadline:

Do entries need to be posted before September 1st? Or is September 1st itself the last day games can be entered without being late?

You can post on Sept 1st and not be late.

And late entries are fine, there is just a small scoring penalty for each day

That's good to hear. I'l probably need more than just tomorrow to finish the rest of the textboxes and scripting for Chapter 5; I'm almost finished with the maps and battles already, though.

Today is the day to submit your game! <a href="http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewtop ... mpleteness voting thread here</a>. Remember that late entries are okay with a small penalty, and that votes for "Best" and "Most Improved" should be sent to me by e-mail or PM rather than posted in the thread.

As for Wandering Hamster, my update will be a couple days late, and since I am providing the prize money, that don't bother me a bit ;)
godsavant wrote:Also, I found an older version of the game, so I guess I'm also going for the "Most Improved" Award:

Hey, godsavant! The old version link you posted is broken. Do you have another link (or maybe somebody else who downloaded has a copy?)
Only One In All wrote:Since I released v1.1 after the contest already began, I suppose it counts a little better than v1.0? :) Although 0.64 is a better comparable version.
I have a copy of 0.64 saved on my computer, but do you have a download link for either 1.0 or 0.64 anywhere that I can post on the voting thread?

Do you want this to be considered for Most Improved compared to the tech demo?
