Spellshard/Horgoth.

Post by Shizuma »

I haven't updated people on Spellshardfor a while, aside a few friends. here I am letting you know... Part of the reason there's been little news is I hate CP forums (and Harlock does ever more). Hey, I only found out about this place a week ago; how Fortis avoided telling me, I dunno!

Now, about SPELLSHARD: THE BLACK CROWN OF HORGOTH !
production had resumed back in 2005. Since then there's been on and off again status (it's been off-again for 1.5 years). Overall I'd say it's about 70-75% done and I'm totally not fooling around here when i say that. And you can be assured I'm not fooling around because as much as I'm sure the game is about 75% done, the release is like a big ??% from being released in full, I have absolutely no idea when it'll be done, if EVER.

It's a tough case, as much as I'd love to just release it now; as is we made a whole damned structure to the thing that I can't short-cut completion by really much at all, and at 75% it'd be more like a big spoiler/leak than a demo. But, I've decided if it's not done by the end of the year, I will just leak it. that's my idea right now. Remind me if I forget.

I'd love to go into like, some of the things in the game (a lot of developments since that demo 5.5 years ago!), post screenshots, etc. But I'm going to do this based on responses. Ask anything you like here and I'll answer you. If there's a demand for screens I'll go make some.

Hey, those look nice! You have improved the battle graphics without doing away with the old-school charm.

You are welcome to <a href="http://gilgamesh.hamsterrepublic.com/wi ... ad">upload screenshots to the wiki</a>

Screenshots taken at 320x200 (-z 1) are preferred, since the wiki can easily scale them up to larger sizes.

I think when the longer version of this game is released, it will pass Wandering Hamster as my favorite OHR game of all time. Your graphics and gameplay design in the old demo were truly an ispiration.

I know you started working on the game before renaming was added, but the feature's been there a while now. Are you going to implement it?

Also, did you ever notice the problem with the spider's web attack(inflicting damage while claiming to lower DEX)? Does the SLEEP spell now stun enemies instead of just wasting a ton of the WIZARD's time? Why does the Iron Ring increase your MP when the game uses Level MP?
Remeber: God made you special and he loves you very much. Bye!

Thanks a lot James Paige and Rurouni!

To answer those questions!
1. Yes, renamable party members is definitely in, it's one feature we implemented right away when it came out.

2. Spider-web attack is most likely fixed. A lot of attacks were fixed and reworked, attacks you don't know about were fixed and reworked twice even... Stuns and the like of "new" bitsets were implemented were appropriate. there's a lot of attacks and variety of them.

3. Iron Ring increasing MP is probably a mistake.. same thing that went for attacks applies here. Hopefully the released version doesn't have any mess ups. (The demo was a bit done in haste btw.)
