Enter the Labyrinth

Post by Mogri »

Image Hello, friends, and welcome to the Labyrinth! I'll be your tour guide for this trip. It will probably be enjoyable and not at all dangerous.

RULES
  • If you want to play, post something to the effect of "I enter the maze." You will then enter the maze. You can perform multiple actions with a single post if you want.
  • Movement: When you enter the maze, you will be given a series of options. Most of the time, these options will be "go west, go east, go north, or go south." If you say something like "I go west, east, north, then south," if you hit a wall, I will automatically stop you. If you wanted to do something impossible, I will automatically stop you. This might lead to your death, so be careful.
  • You are allowed to perform actions other than move, (i.e. some of you may really like bashing doors). Sometimes they do stuff, but not every action will result in something happening. Usually it will be obvious if you can do an action in the room, but it doesn't hurt to try. I will reward imagination.
  • Searching is always automatic assuming there is nothing of interest/dangerous in a room. Intensive searching is not. Investigating a specific area or object is sometimes very useful.
  • Death: When you die, don't worry, you can be reincarnated! You'll be able to "enter the maze" once again.
  • You may say anything you want in this thread. You may discuss strategy with other players, make maps and share them, etc.
  • You may not attack other players or steal their stuff. For all intents and purposes, you are in the same labyrinth, but are largely ignoring one another. Cooperating may be helpful, though.
  • You can join in at any time. It's not too late until someone has solved the maze.
Come on in! The weather is nice and the night is young.

Labyrinth Entrance
There's a box here labeled "Magic Keys" that is filled to the top with keys. A portrait adorns the west wall. To the north is a tall door with a brass handle and a small keyhole -- mysterious! A passage also leads east.

I look around the room, and rub my head because I hit my head on the wall. I go over to the box of magic keys and carefully take one. I cross over to the portrait, and I investigate it for secrets.

You find yourself in the Labyrinth Entrance.

You are carrying:
two mints
a ticket
a slap bracelet

Master K
magic key: Taken.

You examine the portrait.

Handsome!

The portrait hangs to the wall by way of a nail, which is affixed quite permanently in the wall. There is nothing behind the portrait. You open up the framing and look inside. The back of the portrait reads, "Tartarus, Nov 1991," presumably referring to the time and date it was taken. Finding nothing else of interest, you reassemble the portrait and return it to the wall.

magic keys: Taken.

As you place one of the magic keys in the door, it explodes violently! The door is vaporized from the blast along with generous portions of your right hand.

You liked those fingers, too.

No time to worry about wiping up the blood, though! You've got a date with destiny, and destiny is NORTH.

Control Room
Look at all of these buttons! The large panel has a keyboard and a microphone, while the pedestal houses what looks very much like a Simon game. There's also a lever on the west and east walls. For such an important-looking room, it sure wasn't very secure.

Exits lead west and south.

James Paige
You find yourself in the Labyrinth Entrance.

You are carrying:
five golden rings
two turtledoves (dead)
a pear seed
a ticket

J_Taylor
You find yourself in a vast field that seems to extend endlessly in all directions. You search intensively and finally find a portal that leads you to the Labyrinth Entrance.

You are carrying:
a strange device
a pack of gum (cinnamon)
a ticket

Oh, well then. Totally doesn't sound dirty, nope.

I through the smoking door into the north. I investigate my ticket, and then I shout "Hello?" into the microphone.

I do as many of the following things as I can get away with

* Put on all five rings to check and see if any of them are magic.
* Sniff the dead turtledoves in an attempt to determine of they are still fresh enough to serve as a food supply later.
* Read any writing on the ticket.
* Take five magic keys (because I have the same number of rings)
* Walk through the smouldering hole in the wall to the north

I take a look at the ticket. What kind of ticket is it? And where did I get it? Do I remember?
Then I walk to the Box with magic keys. What do they look like? Are they all the same?

Master K
You walk to the north and try to unlock the door with your key. Unfortunately, the door has been vaporized. You look foolish.

James Paige
You wear all five rings and find that you magically look fabulous.

You sniff the turtledoves. What the -- these are dead! That turtledove vendor ripped you off. Closer examination reveals that the birds have undergone some taxidermy. They look so lifelike! Probably bad eats, though.

You closely examine the ticket.

You take five keys and walk north. You arrive in the Control Room.

It promises ENTERTAINMENT, ACTIVITIES, and EVENTS. You can't wait! You seem to remember purchasing this ticket before entering the labyrinth.

You closely examine the magic keys.
Magic Key wrote:Image
These keys bear an odd resemblance to fish, but otherwise look mundane. What self-respecting labyrinth puts all of the keys at the entrance, anyway?
