The FIRST Slime Salad Dominion Tournament, Round 1
What is this?
Read the thread title again.
What is Dominion?
If you haven't played or even heard of Dominion, Google it. There's a free online version at http://dominion.isotropic.org. The best part about the browser version is that the creator of the game knows about it and supports it, so everything works great.
How does the tournament work?
Everyone will be divided into randomly generated groups of four players. Each group of four will play one game of Dominion and must use all the expansions. At the end of the game the winner gets 3 points, second place gets 2 points, and so on.
After we play a certain number of rounds (to be determined based on how many people enter), the four players with the most points will play three games of Dominion against each other using the same scoring system as above. The player with the most points in those three games wins. If there's a tie, tied players will play one game against each other.
When is the tournament?
The tournament will start next Monday, July 25. You have until then to enter if you already haven't.
How long do we have to play a round?
Because you have to play Dominion in real time and not through IMs or IRC or whatever, it's up to the four players in each group to coordinate a time to play. A typical game takes around 20-30 minutes but sometimes games can go as long as an hour. There's no real deadline to get your game in but try and do it as soon as possible. You can use PMs, email, AIM, or IRC (my suggested choice - irc.esper.net #slimesalad) to figure out a time with the other players.
How do we report results?
Just post them to the thread or PM them to me. If you really want to, you can screenshot the results page after the game is over, but I don't think that is necessary.
What are the prizes?
Bragging rights? I dunno. I just wanted to do this for the fun of it. Maybe some sort of bonus on the forums.
But I don't know anything about Dominion
Then go learn and enter anyway. It's a ridiculously fun game.

OK guys, so we got 12 people... so I decided we are going to do 5 rounds.
Here's the groups for round 1, picked randomly and in a decidedly old-fashioned way (writing names on cards and picking them at random):

Cool,
So everyone in my group right now except ajguy frequents IRC. AJ: I believe EST afternoons work best for hawk and SPoonweaver.

Contrary to what Gizmog said, 'the breakfast club' group 3 has yet to start. They're all in irc. So is group1. It's a race for the first match of the season!!
Already we've had several surprises, probably the most profound of which has been JSH lifting all bans to entice the wiz kid mister_j to play.
This is dominion. This is excitement!
TheGiz> Boooooooored
Also, would AJGuys please stand up. Your party is waiting for you.
