Slime Salad Dominion tournament
JSH and I have recently discovered Dominion and have been playing it a lot. So we've decided to host a SS Dominion tournament.
The rules are pretty simple - we will play a set number of rounds of four-player games. The number of rounds depends on how many people enter. The winner of a game gets 3 points, second place gets 2 points, third place gets one point, and fourth place gets no points.
After we've played all of the rounds, the four people with the best scores will play four games against each other, using the same scoring system. The person with the most points after those four games wins the whole thing.
In addition to being fun, hopefully this will also bring out any other Dominion players that might be on SS.
Oh, and if you haven't played Dominion, you should learn! It's a really fun game. Go look up the rules, and then you can play a free browser version at http://dominion.isotropic.org.

I'm in and, aside:
Anyone who wants to try the game, I am down for a match most any time. I advise coming in to the Slimesalad chatroom to ask people just to make things easier to organize.
Also, the isotropic client has some of the rules in its info section, but it's way faster to learn by playing.

Everyone has to be on at once. Games seem to average 15-20 minutes, but can extend if the deck is particularly wicked.

One quick thing I forgot:
We typically ban Secret Chambers in isotropic, and probably should during the tourney. They aren't broken, but they have the ability to extend a 10 minute game in to an hour.

Secret Chambers:
How does this extend games?! Seems like it would speed it up. More money / block attacks.
Also. When's this happening?
Code: Select all
Cost: 2
Discard any number of cards. + 1 Treasure per card discarded.
When another player plays an Attack card, you may reveal this from your hand. If you do, +2 Cards from your hand on top of your deck.

The problem is that everyone tends to buy secret chambers, and spends several seconds deciding what to stuff back up on their decks. If say, I use a Torturer on everyone, it goes like this:
JSH uses a Torturer.
Hawk reveals a secret chamber
Hawk decides what cards to put back on his deck
Hawk decides if he wants to take the curse or discard 2 cards from the Torturer
Hawk decides what two cards to delete.
rinse/repeat for all opponents. This can take sometimes a full minute due to all the decision making involved. It's a nightmare when it comes up.
Add in the fact that some people are multitasking isotropic in the first place.
