The Throne Room will always have a special place in my heart, as it was the song our drill sergeants at air cadet Basic woke us up to on the morning of graduation parade. It was a nice alternative to the usual stick-in-garbage-can method.

As for the prequels, I think even I could've done a better job writing them. "Wanna buy some death sticks?" Death Sticks?? Are you serious; no one could come up with anything more creative than that? And was it really necessary for every noun in the Trilogy to have a cameo appearance in the Prequels? Christ, Lucas needs to do some firing.

It was a direct to TV sequel, made a couple years before Empire even came out. It's absolutely vile, and makes the worst parts of the prequels look wonderful.

about the soundtracks

Post by Soda_piggy »

back to the subject of the soundtracks though, honestly Williams does a great job with the music, however it isn't at all very original. the same type of composing and orchestration practices can be found in the works of Igor Stravinsky (or Strawinsky). there are various sections from "The Rite of Spring" (Le Sacre du printemps (1913)) that Williams basicly copies into the score for Starwars Episode IV. take a listen both of them or look at the score. Stravinsky's work is far more colorful, vivid and exciting than Williams' blatant rip off. in terms of the use of the music IN the film, yes Williams does a bang up job of that, but he could stand to be a little less of a copycat. :(
