Submitted for your retroly amusement, I have ported the ancient <a href="http://gilgamesh.hamsterrepublic.com/wi ... D">Hamster Republic</a> game to freebasic, so it now runs natively in Windows and Linux.
http://HamsterRepublic.com/dl/bobvga-installer.exe
The source code is <a href="http://gilgamesh.hamsterrepublic.com/wi ... er_VGA">in subversion</a>.
I ported it by copying over a bunch of code from the OHRRPGCE, and then mimicking the method that Simon used to originally port the OHR from QuickBasic to <a href="http://gilgamesh.hamsterrepublic.com/wi ... eeBasic</a>
Submitted for your retroly amusement...

The old QB/ASM sound code could select the frequency with which it played bac a VOC file. The new sound code plays ogg files but can't alter their frequency. I could probably go back and re-convert a few of those files to better match the original frequency, but it didn't seem worth the effort.Lonely Rolling Star wrote:What happened to the sound effects? Some of Bob and Vlad's voices are higher pitched now while the rest is still normal. Other than that, it was good retroy amusement. :P
Oops! Fixed and re-uploaded (wow! that code is a mess!)Lonely Rolling Star wrote:EDIT: I think this is a bug, but I can't place dirt when editing Bob's levels, but I can with Vlad's.
