You do realize, this contest will take over what time I was spending on Halloween Quest 3. And that I have probally one of the most awful games ever made with the OHR to remake.

But, I will be entering.

(But it's your fault if HQ3 doesn't come out on time Moogle!)

Can it be a remake of a game that wasn't actually bad, but could be much better?

I want to enter this, but I am not at all embarrassed by my oldest games. I'm much more embarrassed by more recent ones (Gato Sucio, Bad slime Mother and their ilk). However, I've always wanted to do a total remake of Totally... Gihern, with a fleshed out plot and more nerds to terrorize. Would this work?

That's fine, there's no real restriction on that. I can't quantify how much it embarrasses you; the real goal anyway is to take something bad and make it good. Gihern was pretty fun but could benefit from a remake.

Well, this would be nice for me to enter, but I haven't even finished any of my original noob projects.

Oh well, it'll be nice to see what other people come up with.

I never finished my newbie game. I don't see why that would stop you.

Well, I suppose that's a possibility. I could dwell on that.

Hello everybody, here's some screenshots of my entry's current progress.

Image
Title screen

Image
Something is about to go down!

Image
A sudden realization!

Image
The face of a menace, revealed!

Image
This screenshot goes best with alarm and laser shot sound effects not present in this preview.

Image
A vengeful enemy with forbidden knowledge?

Image
Mercenaries for hire doing battle against an evil purple Kat army bent on evil!

Image
The original tank ten years ago didn't look nearly as dangerous as the one that Kat is riding!

Image
The evil Kat army is so evil... they recruit Kat spirits to do their dirty work for them!

Hope that motivates some of you. Anyone else got screenies of what they're getting done?

Your art is good, but your text -- man, your text. The colors make it unreadable. I'm sure it's better at a lower resolution, but still.

Just cheap photoshop tricks for your background effects. But I do like it, it works really well. Keep it up.

I'll step up to the plate with my human day '04 entry. It wasn't my worst game, but it's the one in which I can see the most potential for improvement.

*grumble* A combination of real life events and ineptitude with this program is preventing me from doing anything on time. I wasn't really expecting to do anything grand within a month or two anyway.

Out of the blue, bis_senchi PM'd me on CP offering to help continue Never Forget. I don't remember this, but apparently I included a text file asking for help making the next version.

The game is really, really old -- it released shortly after the first plotscripting version of the OHRRPGCE. (Late 2000?) I'm not sure if I'll do anything with it for this contest, but I went back to take a look at it and was sort of impressed. The plot is generic but fairly well-written, all things considered; the characters are better than standard OHR fare and the game feels pretty developed.

The game ends just as it gets interesting: it opens up into a mission-driven game, where you take jobs that might advance the plot or might just give various rewards. There are about three missions available in the game currently: two story-advancing missions and one just for money. I remember I included the missions partly because I didn't plan on giving money for random battles. I'm not sure to what extent I planned on making the story mission-driven, but I like the idea insofar as it doesn't dilute the plot.

Is there any possibility of a deadline extension? I still really want to do this but won't have a working game for the 1st. Even an extra week would help.
