Updates: Things are slowly becoming un-broken

Post by Mogri »

Subsequent to our sudden upgrade, we've lost a lot of functionality. Thank you for your patience as we go through an awkward transition.

The game detail pages are back in order now. The ratings are unavailable still: although the data does exist, there's no interface for adding new ratings yet. Links to game detail pages from the old board should work again.

The front page of the site is back in order as well, not that regular users are likely to derive much benefit from it.

My next priority is to get the gamelist working again. After that, I'll look at restoring ratings and tags. I think that will get us back to speed, although there's likely something I've overlooked.

You may have noticed that the arena did not make the jump. If you were a fan, please accept my apologies. The arena had lots of custom integrations with the forums that aren't worth updating at this point. It would be more worthwhile to create a new arena at this point than to attempt to port the old one. (I am not likely to do that, either, though.)

Is the "remember me" option when logging in one of the things that's still busted?

I know this forum used to randomly log me out every now and then, but only every few days to a week -- now it seems like every time I open up the site I have to log in all over again regardless of whether I clicked that option or not.

I had one instance where it didn't remember me a few days ago, but haven't had it since.

I don't really mind it, but yea this happened to me today.
Opened the website and I wasn't instantly already logged in like I normally am.

Is this why my own site and Castle Paradox are broken? Or is that unrelated?

EDIT: Ignore me. It was/is unrelated.

The new game download links that are generated leave a LOT to be desired.

Also there seemed to be a lot of issues when I was trying to remove a picture from a post that had inline pictures.

Yeah I agree with this, the Game list has a lot of issues. For instance, when I searched for a game that DOES exist, it didn't bring up any results, with keywords or otherwise. Also, do you plan to relink User Profiles with games? Because it's hard finding games by a specific user, if I can't click on their profile and find their list of games. I mean is that a possibility in the new format? I understand if it's hard to implement, so take your time, but I was just wondering and thought it would be good to mention. Sorry for being pushy. :P

I'm not having any luck searching for games in the game forum. Even if I enter the name of a game I know is on there, it tells me "0 results"

Search needs to be reindexed. The reindex doesn't work very well due to the large corpus. What's wrong with the download links, though?

first... quoting seems to be completely broken

Anyways, the download file links are lines of gibberish; this is for any new game uploaded after the switch

What are you doing that's generating those quotes? They are working fine for me, as seen above.
