The games I cited as inspiration (RCR and the Yakuza) are explicitly not gritty. They're action-comedies. Other popular brawlers are the same way; Castle Crashers, any of the thousands of licensed ones like The Simpsons, all the TMNT games. Final Fight and Streets of Rage have a gritty aesthetic but rely heavily on camp. Shenmue uses brawler combat in a game about peace and letting go of violence. Many are just pure cartoons (any of the Marvel brawlers.) Recent examples: River City Girls, Double Dragon Neon, Scott Pilgrim. Extending it to 3D games, basically anything in the Dynasty Warriors series and its spinoffs are actively silly. Citation: I've played these games instead of reading about them on Wikipedia.

You don't offer useful criticism, you just get weird and then delete your weirdest posts. I'm not interested in working with that.

...Is Sword even going to be working on this? I don't see why someone should care if someone who isn't helping with the game is questioning the story.
No offense Sword, but old beat 'em ups were only dark if you thought about the backstory too deeply. Most of them were not gritty in the sense its frequently used...just earnest. Just the player beating up people for reasons.

Oooh now I'm weird? Nice othering there buddy.

Don't dehumanise me, or reduce me. You can address me personally if you wish.
Otherwise it's considered insulting.

yeah, best community. with friends like these...

why not use google??
why not talk about it?

Is your one word "No" really enough to solve all your problems, or maybe you think that's just a good way of communicating, or perhaps you really like the word and no-one told you not to say it?

Well, it works great if the question is "do you want a sandwich"
However if the question is "Sword... why?" then not so much.
And if the question is something genuine asked of you, then it's perhaps too much for you, as you are making clear.

Well MorpheusKitami, honestly I think Swordplay has a good amount he could potentially offer a team, if he could be a team player.
It doesn't seem like that's the case those.

we have different ideas of what it means to work together, and dare i say, work.

it was ill-fated before I agreed, and I was too blind to realise...

maybe I shall retire and become a hermit

you don't know what it's like to be told you're a genius all the time, online and off..
I have done things in teams other people thought impossible...
I admit I make mistakes, but I have no reason to doubt that I am incapable
although apparently I am.
So goodbye then all? Voluntarily, or not.
