I like hapax, humgruffin, hypnotoad, hullabaloo, hurlbutt, and hurdygurdy.

Hapax in particular seems fitting with the theme of obscure words, what with it (to my understanding) describing words so obscure they only show up in written record once.

EDIT: I also really like Hamstarok, though it does kinda sound like a Viking hamster Pokémon (I'm guessing it starts out as Hamsthor and then evolves into Hamstarok. 😅)

As it turns out, the name might actually be Hróðvitnir, but Norse runic languages are barely functional ones without punctuation or numbers, soooo...

HAHAHAILCHOOCHOO - An older OHR meme but it checks out. Hachi's old catchphrase.

Hamstarok - portmanteau of Hamster and Ragnarok. The dread time when the world's hamsters will gather on the plain of ceder-wood chips and do battle with the evil forces of Cacti.

Hepatoscopy - Divination by examining animal livers.

Heuristic - Helping to discover by trial and error. This one seems oddly appropriate given our shared OHR hobby...

Hróðvitnir - Old norse for "famous wolf". This one would be appropriate for a Vikings release.

Hygiology - The study of cleanliness.

How about:

Hispidity - A fancy version of hairy.
Hippophobic - Fear of horses.
Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia - Fear of long words.
Hinkypunk - A will o' the wisp
Hillwash - Dirt at the base of a hill.
Himantandraceous - A bunch of obscure plants.
Hierocracy - A kind of religious government that is a theocracy.
Hibernophobic - Fear of the Irish.
Hiärneite - A kind of stone.

I'm amused that there's a game called "Hamsterok", but that takes it out of the running.

"Heuristic" might be the first codename ever suggested that appears in the engine itself. (It's not obscure.)

Yes, that's a lot higher priority than TTF support (which I'm not actually working on at the moment, though I do want to work on font stuff soon).
Bob the Hamster wrote:Try:

Code: Select all

set opacity(lookup slice(sl:map layer2), 50)
where the "sl:map layer2" constant is the map layer you want to make transparent
kylekrack found a bug in the "set opacity" command. It doesn't always turn on blending as it's meant to. So you should add a second line, either:

Code: Select all

variable (sl)
sl := lookup slice(sl:map layer2)
set opacity(sl, 50)
set blending enabled(sl, true)
or:

Code: Select all

variable (sl)
sl := lookup slice(sl:map layer2)
set opacity(sl, 50)
set blend mode(sl, blend: normal)

I'd be quite happy with being able to import/export fonts as images, so I can work on them in my graphics program.
Maybe treating them like some kind of sprite or something like that.
Aaaaaaaaand then, multi font support :D

Names:
Hekate - Greek Godess of magic, amongst others.
Hinkelstein - German word for Menhir, known to a wider audience through the german editions of french Asterix Comics.

I was actually planning on importing/exporting fonts from/to images very soon (meant to do it a few months ago). It's a tad silly that you can't already do that. The thing that's holding it up is that since I'm working on variable-width (proportional) fonts (and multiple fonts) I need to use a image layout that can handle that, which is a lot more complex.

To recap the suggestions (I removed a few because they were way too long or otherwise can immediately rule out)

Halcyon
Hullabaloo
Hubbub
Hurdygurdy
Hilipilification -- 18C made-up word
Hilipilify -- not even a real made-up word
Hurlbutt
Hypnotoad -- Futurama
Hexactinal -- having six rays
Hippodamist -- horse-tamer
Hippomobile -- horse-drawn vehicle; also, a particular automobile from 1863
Harengiform -- shaped like a herring
Homnivorous -- eating humans
Humgruffin -- terrible person
Hapax -- word which occurs only once in a document or area of literature (short for "hapax legomenon")
Hepatoscopy -- Divination by examining animal livers.
Heuristic -- Helping to discover by trial and error.
Hróðvitnir -- Old norse for "famous wolf".
Hygiology -- The study of cleanliness.
Hispidity - A fancy version of hairy.
Hippophobic - Fear of horses.
Hinkypunk - A will o' the wisp
Hillwash - Dirt at the base of a hill.
Hierocracy - A kind of religious government that is a theocracy.
Hibernophobic - Fear of the Irish.
Hiärneite - A kind of stone.
Hekate -- Greek goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy
Hinkelstein - German word for Menhir, known to a wider audience through the german editions of french Asterix Comics.

Oh. Real suggestion time.

I actually don't really like most of the suggestions for build names. They're nice, but they don't fit build names very well, imho.

Since this version will have a bunch to do with font stuff, what about "Hieroglyph" or something like that?

I think the point of the build names is comic whimsy, going by previous examples.

I like Herangiform
