I mean, you're not wrong, but that's even less enforceable.

Adding splash screens seems a bit much. It may be a nice thing to do as a courtesy but I wouldn't require it.

Tbh I'm not the kind of guy who cares about nsfw content, as you can tell from the fact that my hotohr project started with a cannibal sex joke. I just want to know where the lines are, because I'm sure some people think I've crossed the line and then some.

In my opinion I think nsfw games are different from games with nsfw content. A game might have some cheeky jokes and low rez boobs but if it still has other legs to stand on besides its third leg then I believe it is ok. Dungeonmen had a naked lady getting murdered and its considerred an ohr classic.

Games that exist solely for porn/fetish content or have it as one of the driving themes may need more examination of whether it is appropriate for this site. The latest games that set off this train of thought had no legs to stand on besides a wierdass fetish and someone else's graphics. If that's ok then does that mean I can add some dick pics to a game or make an rpg adaptation of "Night of the Cannibal Coyote Women?" We as a community have to determine these limits I suppose.

It's a difficult situation, but everyone's gangsta until someone puts endoscopy footage in an ohr game.

I don't even know how something like that COULD be enforced? That would be as difficult as requiring every game to have a "Powered by OHRRPGCE" splash screen at the beginning. I mean for the big projects that get ported to Steam or the Android APP store, that's an idea with some merit, but I wouldn't want that to be a requirement.

And even if you DID enforce a "content warning screen" or something at the start of every game, what about all the OLD games that the authors' don't have the project files for anymore? I guarantee if there was a requirement that every game needed a warning screen, then game authors would rather just pull their games off the game list, than spend time updating 10+ game packages that they'd rather just collect dust.

The best solution is probably going to be one that's easy for game authors to do, not prone to abuse, and requires as little work as possible. Something that preferably incorporates the tag list. I would suggest a popup box tied to the game's download page that says something like "this game has been flagged with X, Y, and Z tags, and may not be suitable for all players. Are you an adult, and would you still like to download this game". Clicking YES downloads the game as normal, clicking NO takes you back to the game list.

I don't know the feasibility for something like that either. But that's probably something most people would agree to.

I remember the controversy back then! Given how some people reacted to that, you'd think they'd have lost their minds!

I don't think there should be any re-examination here. If the game has other merits, with adult situations not being the main narrative or gameplay focus, then it's probably okay - just be sure to tag the game with NSFW or "Adult Situations" first.

If the point of the game *IS* the porn, it shouldn't be on Slime Salad. End of story.

As the description says, for the next few days I'll be open to further alterations. This thread will probably be my primary location for taking pertinent feedback.

Yeeeah rereading my post I was being kinda flighty and polite in my wording haha (Gonna blame that one on writing the post on my lunchbreak at work).

No, I wholeheartedly agree with you, that was pretty much the main idea behind my "nsfw game vs game with nsfw content" premise. It's pretty much why I frown on these lousy "Generic vikings graphics city with VORE" fetish games that were shat onto the gamelist recently (no pun intended) yet am more than happy to roll out a red carpet for "No Eat: Prepare for Seconds Edition".

Just played the remaster of No Eat. It's like stepping back in time and playing an OHR game from like 2003 on Operation OHR.

Considering that's the time I started using the engine, that sounds good to me.

One thing No Eat did solidify for me in terms of game design was that I like giving heroes single-digit max MP and spells that cost 1 or 2 MP apiece. Tendo doesn't even have any that cost 2 in this game, though I considered it (couldn't think of anything I could give him that wouldn't either wind up being too good not to use and thus obsolete the other spells, or be too expensive to be worthwhile at that price).

The music was a nice addition, glad you added some to the game.

I don't remember if Sephy used music or not (couldn't get his game to run at all) but if he did, I was the only person in the Say It Ain't So Contest to actually follow the "make your own audio exclusively" rule. Considering the two of us got the bottom half of placements it goes to show what following the rules gets you!

Since the re-release is not part of said contest, it no longer needs to adhere to contest rules.

I don't know if there's an audio equivalent of a shock image, but I'm sure we would've all heard a few dozen of 'em if not for that rule.

No Eat would've just had standard OHR sample music if it weren't for the contest's "make your own audio" rule, haha
