Yup, 3D models first. All in Blender. The goal was to have something usable coming straight out of the render without having to edit in an image manipulation program. Straight out of Blender, it clocks in at 16 frames, 13+1 colors. And I'm certainly crazy, but not crazy enough to attempt pixel-ing this monstrosity by hand, frame-by-frame, heh.guo wrote:Very cool! 3d models first? If these were drawn frame by frame you deserve a medal.
Right now? No, the scale is way off and none of the movements are baked in. But it would be a simple matter to configure it for Unity. Right now the model is just sized/rigged for animation. Also, waaaay too many vertices for game stuff, but that's an easy fix.Spoonweaver wrote:is the 3d model usable in unity?
I've been doing a lot of stuff in unity lately. Haven't really thought up a good use of it yet.

Haha.
That's a very unusual battle backdrop!
Just one complaint: the circular tops of the columns look like a mixed perspective not matching the walls.
(Nice to see someone actually export a mapshot instead of taking a screenshot of the map editor)

- For a while I had an idea to downrez any Vikings assets for which there aren't 8-bit analogs in FnrrfYgmSchnish's 8-bit graphics pack.

- Definitely feels good to draw some of these sprites when using the original as a reference, but not being afraid to change the size.
