Why would there be a difference between looping mp3s vs wavs? I guess there could be bugs in whatever playback (or encoding) program you're using. I know that SDL_mixer (which the OHR uses) used to handle looping music very badly. Hmm, maybe mp3 has some kind of minimum block size, rather than allowing files to be arbitrary length?

I notice a small moment at the start of mp3 files where there is no sound.

Oh, even if you don't loop? That's even stranger. I'd assume it depends on the playback and encoding programs.
