How to add layer to map ? (Wine, exe, OHRRPGCE 20170922)

Post by marionline »

Hi,
I'm using the windows version of dimmercrafty+1 OHRRPGCE 20170922 under Mint.
I can not add new layers to the map. In the "Layers and Tilesets" menu Pressing + just prints the symbol + and doesn't add a layer.
I can't test it on a windows machine, so it could be that it's just a wine bug.

I can't reproduce this. Maybe it is a wine problem?

I am sure we have talked about this before, but why are you running the wine version of Linux?

Can you describe what problems you ran into trying to run the native linux version?

Hey,
I did not run into problem, I haven't tried to install it (yet).
The prpblem was that it's not possible to have two OHR versions installed.
I just was worried the new version could bring bugs to the game projects I'm currently working on.
So, I thought I could use the new version with wine and just test out the new features. =)

Couldn't you just get a tarball version and unzip that somewhere?

Yes, extracting a tarball (one of the tar.bz2 files) is the best way to run an OHRRPGCE version without installing it system wide.

You can also pess Numpad + instead of regular + to add a map layer in the map layers menu.

Or if that doesn't work, go into tilemap edit mode and press alt and a number at the same time to enable a layer. E.g. alt+9 enables layer 9. If the layer doesn't already exist, you'll be asked whether to add it.

Thanks for your help! :)
I'll try using the tarball, and I'll also try the other ways to add a layer.
