Talk about things that are not making games here. But you should also make games!

Both the Unburning and the Rain God Curse are ancient parts of the landscape. They were already in place before the city was built, a few hundred years ago.

I'd like to be a homeless person addicted to drugs.

Giz, on IRC wrote:If it's not asking too much, what's the general racial makeup of the city? Is it predominantly human? How out of place are elves, dwarves, or kamelmen?
The city is a mix of standard D&D classes. Humans/Elf/Dwarf humanoids are the largest plurality, but even combined they are not a majority. There are also a lot of Dragonborn.

Obscure and strange monster races are rare, but not unheard of. You aren't likely to be accosted by a talking giant spider in a dark alley, but if you are, offer it some beer money before you draw your sword.

This looks fun! I want in on this or the second campaign if it needs to be made. I don't really have a specific class in mind. This would be my first time playing D&D5e too.

As for backstory, I was thinking making them a recent university graduate looking for a job after school, or maybe a down on his luck guy who just got fired from his job as like, a janitor or something and is willing to join an adventuring party for money. Not sure what I'd go with, I think it would partly depend on what class I end up picking. (The student would use magic but the janitor would be a warrior because of his mad mop swinging skillz)
Working as intended!

Both of those are great! If you go wit the Janitor, look at the Monk class-- they are more like Shaolin King-Fu movie monks, and less like Friar Tuck monks

Janitors would also have very good Wisdom scores.

I am actually thinking of busting out an emergency Gnome wizard (or some other class) drawn in crayon in place of a serious Paladin.

Yeah, a martial artist class sounds like it would be a good fit for him, I'll start pouring over the material then and get to creating him.

Working on a rock gnome rogue. He is an explorer and treasure hunter kind of like Indiana Jones. I made all the stats, I just need a physical description and backstory.

Ooh! This looks fun. I haven't played D&D online before, and it's been ages since I've played at all.

With Mr. The Hamster's approval, I'd like to play a kobold rogue.
