The thread of codename suggestions
Stable releases? Making cool games? Those are fine, sure, but the REAL sport here is suggesting obscure works for codenames
Suggestions should
* Start with the desired letter of the alphabet
* Be reasonably obscure
* Not already be the name of some other software
James and Ralph will select the codenames from your suggestions, sometimes with a vote, sometimes with a dice roll, sometimes with a harebrain scheme, and sometimes through sheer autocratic hegenomy
Were doing "J" works right now. Gimme your J words

We'll see what the usual line of obscurity produces, but I'll start the running with a fun word:
Jocularity - the state of being jocular, which is a form of merriment.

Jocoserious feels very OHR-flavored. I think that's a strong contender

Re: The thread of codename suggestions
Jabberwock: A mysterious and fearsome creature described in the classic poem "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll. (Although the title of the poem spells its name with a 'y', it's always spelled as "Jabberwock" within the poem proper.)
Jackanapes: An old-timey word for a bothersome person, of the sort that might go about with "Merry Christmas" on his lips. Despite what you might expect, "jackanapes" is used as both the singular and the plural form of the word.
Javert: The tragic rival character from Les Miserables, a police inspector who can't accept that a person who was once a criminal can reform, and becomes obsessed with pursuing Jean Valjean.
Jacaranda: A tree that grows bright purple flowers and is commonly grown in tropical climates across the world.
Juffo-Wup: A term apparently referring to the purpose of life, used in the obscurantist ramblings of the Mycon, an alien species of sapient fungi in the game Star Control II.
Jack-o-Lantern: An appropriate seasonal reference, just as long as the next 2 stable releases of the OHR are finished within the next 47 days.
Joon-bee: A Korean term used in Tae Kwon Do. It is the signal for students to assume a ready stance and get ready to begin an exercise.
Jackalope: A mythical rabbit that has antlers like a deer.
Jiangshi: An undead creature in Chinese mythology, portrayed as hopping about because its dead body is too stiff to walk normally.
Jörmungandr: A giant snake from Norse mythology, big enough to encircle the entire Earth. It is known for rising from the depths of the ocean to cover the Earth with poison at the beginning of the battle of Ragnarök. (I suggest this one mainly just to continue the theme of names from Norse mythology that can't be written on an English-language keyboard without using obscure tricks.)
What I'm trying to say with this post is that I have definitely read a book.

As someone who, to this day, still catches Homestarisms like "all the time" and "pork b/w beans" creeping into his everyday speech, I am all up ons.
"It was right through those trees; I'm not insane
That's where the fin tried to drag me in
Don't look at me, look at where I'm pointing
Close your eyes, see what I see, Canajoharie..."

Hah! In fact, there is already an OHRRPGCE "version" named https://rpg.hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/JormungandJörmungandr: A giant snake from Norse mythology, big enough to encircle the entire Earth. So far, my seconded favorites (in order) are:
-Jellynose
-Jetavator
-Jacaranda
I feel I should also throw a pair of pants into the ring:
-Jodhpurs (horse-ridin' breeches)
Okay, back to observation and nominate mode.

Re: The thread of codename suggestions
"Jumbee", according to wikipedia:
you could spell it differently if you likeA jumbee, jumbie, mendo or chongo in Colombia and Venezuela is a type of mythological spirit or demon in the folklore of some Caribbean countries. Jumbee is the generic name given to all malevolent entities. There are numerous kinds of jumbees, reflecting the Caribbean’s complex history and ethnic makeup, drawing on African, Amerindian, East Indian, Dutch, English, and even Chinese mythology.
Different cultures have different concepts of jumbees, but the general idea is that people who have been evil are destined to become instruments of evil (jumbee) in death. Unlike the ghost folklore which represents a wispy fog-like creature, the jumbee casts a dark shadowy figure.

Japanese, from jin 'human' + riki 'strength' + sha 'vehicle'.

Re: The thread of codename suggestions
We still haven't decided on a J* codename, so there's still time to make suggestions, but it's not long (don't ask how long) until Ichorescent is released and we want to know what's next!
