D&D play by post
Good Evening and Good 'Morrow!!
My Fellows, I invite you to a collaboration of imagination.
I haven't run a Dungeons and Dragons game for a while and a play by post campaign is what I have in mind.
I got a 5th ed adventure and source book for Christmas. So it's time to play a 5th edition game!
This will start out as a basic adventure, straight from the book. It may become more, and carry on beyond that.
We shall see!
If you want to join up, let me know by posting on here.
I'm looking for about 4 players.
Starting at level 1. Basic race/classes preferred.
It will be played in the secret roleplaying forum here. (I'll be starting an out of game thread there shortly.)
No pressure!

Thats wonderful! I'm interested for sure. Haven't had some nice dnd action since I got my friends into Warhammer 40k :/
Can you give an overview of your expectations as a dm of this? Will you be running a character? Will there be dice rolling? Expected post length?
I ask mainly because in most pbp games I see, it's difficult for a single dm to maintain their authority and easy for players to take creative liberty and run wild in their posts.

I have played some of Spoonweaver's play-by-post games before, and I think he does a great job as DM.
He gives players a lot of freedom, but still keeps things organized, and keeps things moving.
Also, thanks to Mogri, there is a dice-bot built right into the forum
Let's see if remember how it works...
[dice]2d20 roll for spiffyness with advantage[/dice]
EDIT: no, I don't remember the tag :D

Here's an example from the play by post I did before.Eonhetwo wrote:Thats wonderful! I'm interested for sure. Haven't had some nice dnd action since I got my friends into Warhammer 40k :/

I've made the out of character chat in the roleplaying forum
if you're interested, take a look. Post there to confirm you're 100% playing and then start making your character. Post there with any questions you have.

It's been quite a while since I've done anything like this, but I'd love to join in!
I wanted to play a character based on Corporal Buggy Swires from Discworld, who's a reconnaissance agent for the Watch that's a gnome who rides on a trained buzzard. All the actual experience I have in D&D is from 2nd and 3.5 Edition, but in looking into some online material about character creation in 5e, I was surprised to discover some people who actually write for Wizards officially talking about how a gnome 3rd level Ranger with the Beastmaster archetype can have a pteranodon as an animal companion that they can ride as a mount (since gnomes count as Small creatures and the pteranodon is Medium.) So, uh, I guess I'll do that, then (though I understand we'll be starting at level 1 instead of 3.)

Yes, the game starts at 1st level
and should run through 6th level, provided it doesn't end due to a total party kill or something.
It may run past that depending on how it goes.
