"It's not over yet!" Lynda exclaims.

Lynda continues to fire arrows at the Manticore.

Kalar hangs back for now, the others can finish the creature off. While they do, he keeps an eye out for any other potential surprises while making sure to keep himself well-defended.

Using Total Defense (+4 Dodge bonus to AC), current AC is 28.

Harvey follows Lynda's example and redirects his fire towards the Manticore. Guess we aren't gonna die just yet.

The unicorn's horn wasn't working on the unicorn itself. Rob noticed that the unicorn had likely died from the spine hitting it's head and thus it's brain. No stranger to magical devices however, Rob felt that the unicorn's horn might still have enough magical energy in it for one more use, if he worked fast.

Lynda and Harvey joined the several undead that had yet thrown their weapons at the injured beast in a ranged assault. It was clear that the manticore would soon be dead.

Everyone watched as the elven lady turned into a large fierce gold dragon.
She joined the silver dragon in pouncing on the manticore. They savagely tore at the silvered monster which was soon no more than parts on the ground. But not before it shot off one last tail spine.

Azedarac looked down at his chest at the spine sticking out before collapsing over the side of the stone bridge into the fire.

Kalar acts quickly and uses the remaining charge on his boots to teleport to where Azderac is. Once there, he grabs the man and flies up, preventing him from falling to his doom. Hopefully, he yet lives or can be revived. However, should he be dead, Kalar feels that the man can still serve some purpose later on.

Feeling that there may still be a little magic left in the fallen unicorn's horn, Rob drags it towards the beholder. He hopes by all the gods that Nerroth is too busy being a dragon to notice the unceremonious way he is treating her dead mount.

The beholder awoke in much the same way Wren did. However, in it's startled confusion it released 3 deadly green rays. One hit the ceiling to no effect. One hit the remains of a skeleton minion. The last one hit the remains of the manticore's rider, destroying all that was left and only just missing the silver dragon.

A plume of flame engulfed Kalar and Azedarac as Kalar teleported to the rescue. Thankfully, Kalar's enchantments protected him from the fire. Azedarac seemed equally unaffected. However, the ooze dripping from his face and his limp body didn't bode well as Kalar returned to the others.

"Oh no, he can't die on us. Not yet." Lynda says aggressively. "He might be evil and tried to murder me, but he also just started being useful. Too many people are dying and we need to keep as many numbers as we can."

Lynda walks over to the unicorn and looks down on it sadly.

"What now...? It's only going to continue to get worse as we progress, and even now things are pretty grim."

Harvey wipes the sweat off his forehead.. it's getting hard to focus.. he glares at Lynda for her childish view of the situation. "Here's what now... he's dead and his soul is heading off to whatever dark hole souls like his go to. I wouldn't usually spill any tears over that, but there's something you're forgetting..."

The assassin is angry at the situation.. but doesn't want to waste an arrow for effect. Instead, he grabs a handful of gold and throws it into the lava. "Azedarac was the ONLY one who knew how to break the curse! And now that he's dead, the nasty monsters who're killing us like flies will be able to rip that knowledge from his soul, break the curse and run roughshod over places that actually matter! And you know *THEY* can do it, because *WE* do it ALL THE TIME!!!"

He turns to Kalar, knowing the unicorn lady isn't going to like what he has to say and thus ignoring her. With grim determination he lays down his plan. "We've gotta get that soul back. Either put it back in his body, or destroy it before anyone else can make it talk. Is that how it works... can we do that?"

Rob catches the drift of Harvey's conversation, and decides it might be a good time to distract the Lady Nerroth.

He leaves the dead unicorn next to the confused beholder, and approaches the two dragons

"Good Lady, I fear your beautiful unicorn may be dead-- and I must admit to acting a bit rashly-- I saw how it healed our friend Wren here, and..." he tries to draw her attention to the unicorn and the beholder, and away from Kalar and Azedarac's corpse

From inside Kalar's pack, Ardan stirs. Still contained within the skull, he decides to make himself known. All this talk of souls and the afterlife has roused him.

"If he's gone to anywhere like where I was, he doesn't have much to answer to except pain, suffering and misery. But if even my spirit can be brought back in to this miserable plane, surely his can do the same."

"It could be done, but let's see if we can do something else first."

Kalar checks to see if the man is alive first. He'll also use his medical skill to see what sort of poison, if any, the man is being affected by. If Azderac is alive, and Kalar determines it's poison that he can treat, he'll send divine magic into him, attempting to heal him and bring him back.

The gold dragon gave words of understanding to Rob as Kalar saw to Azedarac.
Azedarac was not dead. What afflicted him and the others was like no poison Kalar knew of. After a few moments of looking at the ooze that was still flowing, Kalar was certain this was either a magical disease or worse yet, a curse. His spell would likely have no affect.

Rob is relieved that the dragon doesn't seem angry about the situation.

He cautiously goes in for a hug.

Hug successful. The gold dragon embraced Rob back, roughly.
