"The bugs seemed to be keeping their distance, could try and make a run for it.. maybe try the other door? One things for sure, we should quit splittin up. I think those two girls are dead."

"If there's even a tiny crack or opening on the other side, we can turn into mist and bypass the bugs and whatever is in there. The only problem with that is we don't know what's on the other side."

"Last I saw, the door was wide open, but the silver monster with a thing ridin him spitting stuff at people might have something to say about us just swooping through."

True, but with all of the fire and smoke in the room, and with the white robes I purchased for all of us, there's a significant chance that it won't notice us."
Kalar then looks at the remaining Inquisitors.
"Especially if it were to be distracted by something. Were that the case, then we would be able to bypass it, conserving our strength. At the same time, we would be able to do a two-pronged attack and crush it from both sides. Killing it might also be a good idea, as that would give me another minion with which to aid us."

"Your undead friend was invisible and they still got him. Are you sure they won't notice?"

"Invisible, but he still had a body that could be sensed. If we turn into mist, we should be indistinguishable from the surrounding smoke. That is, of course, unless they have some means to discern the difference between us and regular smoke."

"Why hasn't this been tried yet?" the silver dragon asked, referring to Kalar's mist plan. Several of the others in the room had turned their eyes towards Kalar.
Dan vanished. A few seconds later he reappeared. "The room beyond the room of fire is mostly empty. It seems to be about the same size as this room and has 2 more doors in, not counting the one I entered through just now. I also confirmed that I can not pass through either the doors or the walls while on the ethereal plane while the door is shut. The walls on the side of the door, once the door is open, allow me to pass through as normal though," Dan said.
"Also, the manticore is heading this way."
"Fighting him through this door opening may be best. If we're able to keep him on that side of the door, we can use the corners there as cover. And also, if it's flying it might not be able to target those on the other side for the room," said Azedarac.
"Those with good ranged attacks should line up here and attack as soon as you see it. Those that prefer melee should wait on the sides of the door." the tall chain wielding inquisitor ordered.
The beholder was the first to follow the order, lining up and facing the door. Others began to follow suit while the sound of the manticore's wings flapping could be heard coming closer to the room.

Lynda takes out her bow.
"Alright, I'll be the firing squad." She says. She will get in to position and prepare to fire.

The next thing to come at the group was not from the room of fire, but from the door they had enter through. The mist that had trapped the adventurers in the tomb opened wide. A young child stood in the mist tunnel that had been created. An elf woman riding a unicorn, two kobolds and a rather big frog all entered the room through the newly created tunnel. The child spoke, "If you are trapped, you can escape through this tunnel. Be quick, my power is fading." The child's form began to slowly fade as it spoke.
Two of the inquisitors were quick to run off through the tunnel.
The shadow of the silvery manticore darkened the doorway. It would be only seconds before Lynda, the beholder, and the others would have a clear line of sight on the beast.

Harvey shakes his head, musing how shortly ago it was that the mouse and the beholder seemed weird. "Why should we try and escape? Things goin' better out there? This feels like do or die time to me."
He picks up his sack and gets an arrow ready.. damn thing's already silver, so let's try one of the cold iron ones. Soon as it comes around the corner, Harvey's shooting.

Kalar stands near the entrance, behind the more capable melee fighters, but still in a position to pitch in should the need arise. He'll conserve his spells for now. He would rather have a shield if he's to enter into melee, but that's a matter he'll have to resolve later on.

Rob rings his Bell of <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/displa ... ent so that he will be able to join the melee fighters without as much risk to himself.

That critical moment seemed to go on for days. The child's exit was fading and the child along with it. The two inquisitors that had taken the opportunity to leave were gone. The elf lady on the unicorn looked around the room. "Fear not, I understand the situation and will not harm those of you that I find detestable, for now." The unicorn stomped angrily.
The body of one of the orc ladies came flying into the room then. Her head was no where to be seen. A loud screech followed. The elven woman held up a hand and began casting a spell.
The manticore and it's rider appeared in the door way then. Arrows went flying. Lynda missed. Harvey and the Inquisitor with the acid coated bow both hit the silvered manticore. Harvey seemed to score a better hit, however both attacks seemed almost completely ignored. Wren shot a magical rock towards the thing. It seemed equally ignored. The beholder shot a ray, but it seemed ineffective.
Dan and Azedarac both stood at the ready. They seemed like they might help this battle, but had yet to do anything.
The silver dragon, the tall inquisitor, Kalar, and Kalar's undead all stood behind the doorway, ready to strike.
The swarms of bugs began to amass outside the door.

Rob calls out to the Manticore's rider: "Hey! Hold off! Baalzebub said you were supposed to let us all pass! Didn't you get the memo?
